7:50pm Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm @ 4 Pines Park

The Melbourne Storm are firm favourites to beat Manly on the road, providing their Origin stars are healthy and ready to fire.

We expect the Origin players to front up and the betting line suggests they will. The Storm are –9.5 favourites to close the gap on Penrith at the top of the table and Manly hasn’t been putting up much of a fight against the top-level teams.

Take the Storm to score a comfortable victory.

Betting tip: Melbourne Storm –9.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Ladbrokes

6:00pm Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans @ McDonald Jones Stadium

There is nothing separating them in betting markets and that’s hardly surprising given their records.

The Gold Coast Titans have been awful, and considering their team has competent players, there is something going wrong at the top.

Newcastle has shown glimpses of form and playing at home helps. However, it’s desperation time for the Titans and they could finally show their worth. They start games well, so an 80-minute performance is needed.

Betting tip: Gold Coast Titans @ $1.90 Bet @ Ladbrokes

7:55pm Penrith Panthers vs Sydney Roosters @ BlueBet Stadium

We’re not sure what’s going wrong with the Sydney Roosters but it won’t worry the high-flying Penrith Panthers.

It comes as no surprise to see the Panthers at –14.5. They have been dominant for the last two years and there are no signs of slowing down.

If the Roosters are anywhere near their best, they could cover the spread. However, we haven’t seen their best, so we’re taking the much better team.

Betting tip: Penrith Panthers –14.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Ladbrokes

3:00pm Canterbury Bulldogs vs Cronulla Sharks @ CommBank Stadium

The Canterbury Bulldogs have found some form over the last few weeks but we don’t expect it to continue against the Cronulla Sharks.

Cronulla has been the much better team and it’s currently sitting in fourth. The Sharks are –9.5 favourites to handle one of the worst teams in the competition and that line is favourable.

We expect the Bulldogs to regress back to their old form.

Betting tip: Cronulla Sharks –9.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Ladbrokes

5:30pm North Queensland Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos @ Country Bank Stadium

The Brisbane Broncos started their season well but we don’t see it continuing for too much longer.

They face their rival in the North Queensland Cowboys, who are travelling well in third position and they have looked impressive.

The Cowboys struggled against the Panthers but they have been excellent against most other teams. They are only –5.5 favourites but that line should move to around –6.5, so jump on the line before it’s gone.

It’s one of our more confident bets of NRL Round 16.

Betting tip: North Queensland Cowboys –5.5 @ $1.81 Bet @ Ladbrokes

7:35pm South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels @ Accor Stadium

The top eight sides square off and punters are having a tough time knowing which Rabbitohs and Eels side will turn up on any given day.

After starting the season well, the Parramatta Eels have fallen down the ladder and that’s not unlike them. They often struggle mid-season, so this is an important fixture.

South Sydney is inconsistent and tough to bet on. The Rabbits have the ability to go on a winning streak but we’re going with the Eels to edge clear.

Betting tip: Parramatta Eels –4.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Ladbrokes

2:00pm New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers @ Mt Smart Stadium

We didn’t think we would see a day when the New Zealand Warriors were favoured to win a game this season. It shows you how bad the Wests Tigers are paying.

Despite sitting one off the bottom of the table, the Warriors are $1.54 to beat the Tigers and we can’t take them at those odds. Despite it being their first game at Mt Smart in years, the occasion might get the better of them.

The Tigers could spoil the party and the $2.50 is worth the risk.

Betting tip: Wests Tigers @ $2.50 Bet @ Ladbrokes

4:05pm St George Dragons vs Canberra Raiders @ WIN Stadium

We don’t mind backing the St George Dragons when they’re paying $2 at home and this is one of those situations.

They are currently inside the top eight, which is much better than expected. Canberra sits in 13th and it’s the $1.80 favourite on the road, so we’re not biting.

Take the Dragons to keep their momentum.

Betting tip: St George Dragons @ $2 Bet @ Ladbrokes
