Doomben horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:38) XXXX Dry C3 Plate (1050m)

#1 – Carribean King – Bet @ Bet365

Form is with Carribean King, who scored a win at Sunshine Coast by 2.5 lengths last time out.

The four-year-old son of Sweynesse paid only $1.35 last time out but punters should expect better odds this time around.

Carrying 59kg isn’t ideal but he has upside.

Race 2. (12:13) Tab Venue Mode BM72 (1350m)

#1 – Hang Five – Bet @ Bet365

Hang Five has yet to finish worse than third from four starts, including a win at Eagle Farm two starts back.

The three-year-old son of Astern won by 2.3 lengths before finishing second and third in consecutive starts.

It’s not an easy field but he should be in the mix.

Race 3. (12:48) Grant Burge Wine Dinner 31/8 (1350m)

#7 – Wham – Bet @ Bet365

Wham isn’t always the most consistent type going around but he’s good enough to beat this field.

The seven-year-old son of Fiorente owns two wins at Doomben and he didn’t appreciate the heavy surface last time out.

Dropping to 51kg makes him a worthwhile bet.

Race 4. (13:23) Spring Carnival on Sale BM78 (2200m)

#7 – Za Ceibas – Bet @ Bet365

Za Ceibas turned his form around with a win at Doomben and he could go back-to-back on the track.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding relished the rise in distance when winning by 1.8 lengths and he loves racing in soft conditions.

We’re sticking with him in an even betting field.

Race 5. (13:58) Cascade BM75 (1200m)

#3 – Daralina Belle – Bet @ Bet365

Daralina Belle looked good winning at Caulfield two back and that form shapes up well in Queensland.

The Matthew Smith-trained mare followed it up with a solid effort at Randwick and dropping in grade is ideal for the talented type.

We expect her to be the toughest to beat.

Race 6. (14:37) BRC Membership BM80 (1600m)

#8 – Jakama @ $6 – Bet @ Bet365

Jakama hasn’t finished worse than third in five starts this campaign and he does some of his best racing at Doomben.

The six-year-old son of Collate was only a nose behind the winner last start and there’s nothing wrong with that form going forward.

Getting 2kg off his back is ideal, so put him on top.

Race 7. (15:17) Country Music Handicap (1600m)

#2 – Knight Mariner @ $2.90 – Bet @ Bet365

Knight Mariner is overdue a win after plenty of recent placings and we’re sticking with the favourite.

The six-year-old son of Tavistock owns a win and three second placings at Doomben and getting 3kg off his back could make the difference.

The conditions are ideal and it’s only a matter of time before he wins again.

Race 8. (15:57) Sky Racing C6 Plate (1350m)

#12 – Rubamos @ $4.20 – Bet @ Bet365

Rubamos is getting back to his best after running third at Doomben last start and this level of racing is up his alley.

The Waller-trained gelding enjoyed the change in conditions after racing in Sydney and it won’t take him long to win in Queensland.

Drawing the rails and getting in light adds to his appeal.

Race 9. (16:33) Gallopers Sports Club BM75 (1200m)

#16 – Manhood @ $2.50 – Bet @ Bet365

Manhood couldn’t keep his winning streak going when going down narrowly at Doomben last start but stick with him.

The son of Headwater couldn’t catch Desert Dreamer but he’s too good to ignore and his previous form was impressive.

He only needs luck from the wide draw to win.
