Randwick horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:30) Tab Highway C2 Handicap (1100m)
#7 – Optimo – Bet @ Bet365
Optimo is looking to cap off four placings from five starts this preparation with a win on Saturday.
The five-year-old gelding owns two wins and six placings from 11 starts and getting the inside draw is ideal.
Punters should follow any positive betting moves.
Race 2. (12:05) Gold Coast Turf Club BM78 (2400m)
#6 – Monfelicity – Bet @ Bet365
Monfelicity won impressively fresh up and she could return to her best form against this level of opposition.
The four-year-old daughter of Vadamos won her only start at Randwick in heavy conditions and the slight improvement isn’t a worry.
Carrying 54kg is ideal.
Race 3. (12:40) Midway BM72 (1600m)
#2 – Buba – Bet @ Bet365
The Kim Waugh-trained mare has yet to fire in two starts at Randwick but there isn’t much depth to this field.
She gets a valuable 1.5kg off her back and she always runs well in soft conditions, including a win and five placings.
We expect each-way odds on race day.
Race 4. (13:15) SAJC BM78 (1600m)
#4 – Opacity @ $6.50 – Bet @ Bet365
Opacity is better than his form suggests and running fourth at Rosehill last start is a solid form guide.
The six-year-old son of Ocean Park owns six wins from 25 starts, including three wins on the track. He prefers running on the track and that’s a good sign.
Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth snapping up.
Race 5. (13:50) Mostyn Cooper Show County Quality (1200m)
#6 – Showmanship @ $4.20 – Bet @ Bet365
There is nothing wrong with Showmanship’s form, which includes seven wins from nine starts.
The former Perth-based runner showed her ability when winning at Caulfield and Moonee Valley last season before running third at Warrnambool.
We thought his odds would have been shorter, so take the $4.20.
Race 6. (14:25) ACJC Premier’s Cup (2000m)
#3 – Lord Ardmore @ $3.10 – Bet @ Bet365
We are sticking with Lord Ardmore with good reason after back-to-back victories in Sydney.
The Chris Waller-trained five-year-old has thrived since moving to Australia from New Zealand and he gets all favours here.
Having Hugh Bowman riding is a bonus.
Race 7. (15:05) Laurel Oak Toy Show Quality (1100m)
#11 – Sky Command @ $14 – Bet @ Bet365
Punters get value odds with Sky Command, who owns three wins from 10 starts.
The four-year-old daughter of Deep Field has been prepped with a solid trial effort at Rosehill and carrying 53kg is ideal.
We’re happy to take the value odds.
Race 9. (16:25) Darley Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m)
#7 – In Secret @ $3.30 – Bet @ Bet365
Looking to remain unbeaten is In Secret, who won at Hawkesbury before winning at Scone last season.
Those wins came in provincial grades but the James Cummings-trained filly looked good and rising in distance helps.
The early betting support is good and McDonald is booked to ride, which adds confidence.
Race 10. (17:00) Darwin Turf Club BM78 (1200m)
#13 – Arbitration @ $6 – Bet @ Bet365
Arbitration is shooting for three consecutive wins and she’s another quality Cummings-trained runner.
The four-year-old daughter of Street Boss gets in beautifully on the weights at 53.5kg and the odds are worth snapping up.
We expect the odds to shorten on race day, so take the $6.
