Sandown horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (14:30) Ladbroke It Handicap (1000m)

#3 – Lalaguna @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lalaguna is on debut for the Maher/Eustace stable and she wasn’t asked for much in a recent trail.

The daughter of I Am Invincible is bred for speed and having Jamie Kah in the saddle only strengthens her chances of success.

The early betting support is a good sign and we’re putting her on top.

Race 2. (15:05) Ladbrokes Switch Maiden (1300m)

#4 – Hollywood Park @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old gelding looked handy at the trials when placing at Moe, so he could make a winning debut.

He is in good hands with Peter Moody and getting the inside draw on debut should only help his chances.

After opening at $4, most of the money has come for the debutante.

Race 3. (15:40) Ladbrokes Blended Bets BM64 (1300m)

#1 – Seguso @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

There is little wrong with the form of Seguso and we’re surprised that he’s not the favourite.

The four-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice owns two wins and four placings from eight starts, so he’s consistent and good enough to beat this field.

With a 3kg claimer on his back, he should be tough to beat in these conditions.

Race 4. (16:15) Ladbrokes Bet Ticker BM64 (1600m)

#3 – Reliable Dude @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Reliable Dude hasn’t shown his best this preparation but he should appreciate this level of racing.

The four-year-old son of Reliable Man did finish second at Caulfield three back, so a repeat of that effort should see him going close.

He will need cover from barrier eight, but this distance is ideal and punters get each-way odds.

Race 5. (16:50) Ladbrokes Same Race Multi BM64 (1800m)

#1 – Riotous Mischief @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old mare didn’t fire at Caulfield two back, but she bounced back with a third placing at Sandown last time out.

She looked excellent earlier this campaign with three consecutive wins, including a quality victory at Morphettville.

Getting 3kg off her back helps and the money is starting to come for the second favourite.

Race 6. (17:25) The Big Screen Company BM78 (1800m)

#6 – Yukon @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Yukon is knocking on the door after consecutive second placings and we like his chances of scoring an overdue win.

The four-year-old son of Vancouver is a three-time winner and seven-time placegetter, so he’s consistent and it’s a matter of time before he wins again.

Some of his best form comes over this distance and he could try lead and hold on in the straight.

Race 7. (18:00) 50yr Life Member J Adams BM64 (2400m)

#5 – Miletus @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Miletus improved to finish fourth at Sandown last start behind Spirit of Gold and dropping in grade helps.

The Jamie Edwards-trained son of Olympic Glory has only two wins from 13 starts, but he’s nearing another and punters get value odds.

The $7 could firm on race day so take the odds available.

Race 8. (18:30) Life Member Tony Cavanagh BM64 (1000m)

#4 – Head First @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Head First scored on debut at Wodonga by 5.5 lengths before being sent for a spell.

The three-year-old filly by Headwater relished the wet conditions, so running on a soft track holds no fears.

Drawing barrier two is another positive and we expect her odds to shorten on race day. The $3.80 is a value price and it could firm to around $2.90.

Race 9. (19:00) 50yo Life Member P Reilly BM70 (1400m)

#12 – Forbidden City @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old filly didn’t fire a shot at Caulfield against strong opposition, but her win prior at Sandown was classy.

She scored by eight lengths as an odds-on favourite and the daughter of I Am Invincible could get back to that level of form.

Carrying 53kg is ideal and she only needs a touch of luck from the wide barrier.
