We have expert betting tips for the cards this Sunday at Warrnambool and Grafton.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Sunday meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.
Tried our top rated bookmakers?
Race 1. (12:30) Reicom Building Maiden Hurdle (3200m)
#1 – Chains of Honour @ $1.90 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Chains of Honour is a four-time winner from 19 starts and the five-year-old should handle hurdle racing.
The Maher/Eustace-trained son of Redoute’s Choice comes off a second placing at Swan Hill on the flat and we’re not surprised by the short odds.
He has more upside than most in this field and the $1.95 could turn into $1.65.
Race 2. (13:10) Conquest Pools Hurdle (3200m)
#4 – Twin Spinner @ $2.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Twin Spinner turned his form around with a win at Sale in heavy conditions and he should get every chance to win again.
The New Zealand runner scored emphatically by 12 lengths and his best form comes over hurdles, so punters should follow him with interest.
He gets the inside draw and the $2.40 is a value price.
Race 3. (13:50) Carter Group Lafferty Hurdle (3200m)
#2 – Big Blue @ $3.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Big Blue is a noted jumper after posting five wins from 12 starts and the Maher/Eustace-trained runner is the deserved favourite.
The 10-year-old comes off a win at Hamilton by seven lengths and he’s a three-time winner over the distance, so the 3200m is right up his alley.
We’re happy with the value odds and they could shorten on race day.
Race 5. (15:10) Hammonds Paints Thackeray Steeplechase (3450m)
#2 – Britannicus @ $2.30 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Britannicus owns two wins from his last four starts and the seven-year-old couldn’t have been more impressive last start.
The seven-year-old won by 10 lengths at Warrnambool and it came against a tidy field, so he can win the feature race on the card.
Heavy tracks are a worry but he has handled soft well.
Race 2. (13:45) Westlawn Home Loans C3 Handicap (1115m)
#8 – Ronny Rock Art @ $3.60 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Ronny Rock Art comes off a win at Coffs Harbour and he could kick on with it now.
The four-year-old won by 1.3 lengths, and although he’s yet to win on good tracks, he owns six placings from 11 attempts.
Carrying 55kg is ideal and punters should be confident.
Race 3. (12:25) Westlawn Business Loans Maiden (1015m)
#2 – My Mate Cobber @ $2.90 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
My Mate Cobber comes off a placing at Coffs Harbour and that was a tidy debut effort from the favourite.
The two-year-old son of Dissident was only a length behind the winner and he’s bred to get off the mark early in his career.
It’s not a strong field and he can take advantage.
Race 5. (13:45) Westlawn Grafton Cup Prelude (2230m)
#5 – Bold Contender @ $2.90 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Bold Contender shoots for three consecutive wins after scoring at Grafton and Coffs Harbour at his last two.
The five-year-old son of Ocean Park won by 2.5 lengths at Coffs last start and he’s a two-time winner at Grafton, so the track suits.
Carrying 55kg is ideal and we expect him to be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 8. (15:45) Westlawn Grafton Guineas Prelude (1420m)
#1 – Royale Return @ $4.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Brett Cavanough lines up the three-year-old gelding who owns four wins from 11 starts, so he’s consistent.
The son of Charge Forward scored two back at Inverell before failing at Randwick in a very tough field. He finds this much easier and we expect to see his form turn around.
Punters get each-way odds and they could continue to shorten.
