2021-22 A-League Week 12 Tips, Predictions & Betting Odds

The A-League table is starting to take shape in earnest, despite the growing uncertainty around the A-League schedule. The two Melbourne sides are sitting pretty at the top of the pile, with champions City starting to breath down the necks of the revitalised Victory, whilst the likes of Macarthur and Western United are also very much still in the mix. Brisbane Roar, Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets are all floundering at the bottom of the table with just one win each and they need to start picking up results quickly.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the A-League:

Brisbane Roar vs Western Sydney Wanderers – Suncorp Stadium

Brisbane Roar ($2.52)

WSW ($2.88)

Draw ($3.5)

Two sides slugging it out at the bottom of the A-League table face off as Brisbane Roar host Western Sydney Wanderers. Both sides have only managed to pick up one win each this season and they will be keen to pull away from wood spoon trouble sooner rather than later. It has been a tough couple of seasons for Brisbane Roar since COVID 19 derailed their plans under Robbie Fowler and they now look to be a side fighting for A-League survival. By contrast, WSW have plentiful resources in the A-League but cannot seem to match that with results on the pitch. Big money signings haven’t produced the results many would have hoped but they have time to turn things around this season. This could be a tight game, between two sides out of form and a draw looks to be on the cards.

Betting tip: The match to finish as draw ($3.5) – Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw

Western United vs Melbourne City – AAMI Park

Western United ($3.55)

Melbourne City ($2.15)

Draw ($3.6)

Defending champions Melbourne City will be eager to get some momentum into their season, as they travel to Western United. The hosts have been in excellent form so far this term and they find themselves flying high in 3rd place, with a play-off place a genuine aspiration for United some the end of the season. Melbourne City meanwhile have taken a little while to find their feet again this season, but recent results have propelled them up the table to second place and they will be eager to kick on, especially with other sides facing COVID disruption. This should be a superb game, between two sides in decent nick but Melbourne City have the knowhow when it matters, and they should pick up all three points here.

Betting tip: Melbourne City to win the match ($2.15) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Melbourne City to win 2-1

Sydney FC vs Central Coast Mariners – Jubilee Stadium

Sydney FC ($1.87)

Central Coast Mariners ($4.3)

Draw ($4.1)

Sydney FC will be looking to get going again this term as they take on the unpredictable Central Coast Mariners. The blues looked to be turning a corner this season but last week’s defeat to Perth Glory has certainly checked their progress somewhat and they look to have a big job on their hands if they are to be in the A-League title hunt this season. For Central Coast Mariners meanwhile, this game presents a real opportunity to test themselves against sides around them that are competing for a play-off spot come the end of the season and confidence in the Central Coast camp should be pretty high. This could be a highly entertaining encounter, with a score draw looking the most likely outcome.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($4.1) – Bet @ Sportsbet

2-2 Draw

Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United – McDonald Jones Stadium

Newcastle Jets ($2.32)

Adelaide United ($3.1)

Draw ($3.65)

Lowly Newcastle Jets will be doing all they can to kickstart their season as they take on Adelaide United. The Jets have been in a real funk in the A-League for a couple of seasons and with only one league win this term so far, it promises to be another real slog of a campaign at the McDonald Jones Stadium. Adelaide United meanwhile have played 9 games this season, only winning two but with COVID congestion in the schedule, they currently find themselves 5th in the table. Both sides seriously need to start picking up points this season and although this could be attritional at times, it could be a good watch with the necessity for points quite high in both camps and a draw could be on the cards.

Betting tip: The match to finish as draw ($3.65) – Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw
