2021-22 A-League Week 18 Tips, Predictions & Betting Odds

Melbourne City and Western United are starting to cut away from the chasing pack at the top of the A League table, while the rest of the sides in the division battle away. Most of the sides below the top two however do have games in hand, so there is still plenty to play for in the A-League this term. At the bottom of the pile, Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory are in danger of being cut adrift slightly and they are faced with a long season ahead.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the A-League:

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix – Moreton Daily Stadium

Brisbane Roar ($2.15)

Wellington Phoenix ($3.5)

Draw ($3.65)

Bottom of the pile Brisbane Roar will be looking to climb away from trouble as they take on Wellington Phoenix. Roar are a side rebuilding, but they have only won three games from 13 games played and look to be very much in wooden spoon contention this term. Wellington Phoenix meanwhile are enjoying a 5 match unbeaten streak and now find themselves in the play-off mix this season. This should be a closer game than people expect, with Wellington Phoenix expected to come out on top.

Betting tip: Wellington Phoenix to win the match ($3.5) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wellington Phoenix to win 2-1

Macarthur FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers – Campbelltown Sports Stadium

Macarthur FC ($2.75)

WSW ($2.75)

Draw ($3.5)

Two sides in the running for a play-off berth come the end of the season do battle as Macarthur FC take on Western Sydney Wanderers. Macarthur sit 5th in the table but back to back defeats have checked their progress somewhat. WSW meanwhile are languishing down in 10th place in the table, and they now have one eye over their shoulder in the wooden spoon race, despite having picked up some good results this term. This should be a good game, with a draw the most likely outcome.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.5) – Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw

Western United vs Melbourne City – Mars Stadium

Western United ($3.3)

Melbourne City ($2.17)

Draw ($3.75)

The league’s top two sides face off as Western United take on Melbourne City. United have two games in hand on City coming into this one and with the two sides level on points, this could be a serious chance for Western United to kick on and open up a gap over City and the chasing pack. Champions Melbourne City haven’t hit the heights of last season just yet, but they are top of the tree, and they are very capable of turning on the style at the drop of a hat. This should be a really good game, with Melbourne City most likely to come out on top in this six-pointer.

Betting tip: Melbourne City to win the match ($2.17) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Melbourne City to win 2-1

Perth Glory vs Sydney FC – nib Stadium

Perth Glory ($3.75)

Sydney FC ($2.05)

Draw ($3.55)

Lowly Perth Glory will be looking to get their season back on track as they take on Sydney FC. Glory are a side packed with talents, but they haven’t all clicked as yet, and they find themselves languishing down in 11th place in the table. They welcome a Sydney side who are nowhere near the heights of previous seasons in their performances or results, but they remain in the play-off places. Perth Glory should be bang up for this at home and the nib Stadium should be rocking but Sydney FC should pick up all three points.

Betting tip: Sydney FC to win the match ($2.05) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sydney FC to win 2-1

Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets – Hindmarsh Stadium

Adelaide United ($2.2)

Newcastle Jets ($3.3)

Draw ($3.7)

Third placed Adelaide United will be looking to keep up pace with the sides above them as they take on Newcastle Jets. United are a quality outfit, with only one loss in their last 5 games and they look well placed to finish in the play-offs come the end of the campaign. Newcastle Jets meanwhile sit just three points above the bottom of the table, and they need to start picking up points quickly to avoid getting dragged in, This is a tough ask though and with Adelaide United at home, they should pick up all three points.

Betting tip: Adelaide United to win the match ($2.2) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Adelaide United to win 3-1
