2021-22 A-League Week 20 Tips, Predictions & Betting Odds

The A League table is starting to take a familiar shape once more, with Melbourne City at the top of the pile. It hasn’t been all plain sailing for the defending champions, but they do sit at the top of the tree and have their fate in their own hands. Western United are leading the charge behind them, with the likes of Adelaide United, Macarthur and Sydney FC all very much in the running in what promises to be one of the most open A-League regular season title races in years.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the A-League:

Newcastle Jets vs Sydney FC – McDonald Jones Stadium

Newcastle Jets ($3)

Sydney FC ($2.28)

Draw ($3.5)

Improving Sydney FC will be looking to keep climbing the table as they head to Newcastle Jets. The Jets are currently sat down in 10th, an improvement in league position due to their win over Wellington Phoenix last time out and they will be hoping to build on that here. Sydney FC meanwhile are a side packed with potential and following their slow start to the campaign, they now look to be in the mix for a play-off push at the very least this term. This should be a really good game with Sydney FC most likely to come out on top.

Betting tip: Sydney FC to win the match ($2.28)

Sydney FC to win 3-1

Brisbane Roar vs Western United – Moreton Daily Stadium

Brisbane Roar ($3)

Western United ($2.45)

Draw ($3.45)

Brisbane Roar will be hoping to build on their recent upturn in form as they take on Western United. Roar were languishing at the bottom of the pile but back to back wins have seen them climb off the base of the table and things are looking up. By contrast, Western United have stalled somewhat after their impressive start to the season and are now in the pack chasing Melbourne City at the top of the table. United do have games in hand though and they will see this as a winnable away day in Brisbane. This should be a really good game with Western United most likely to come out on top.

Betting tip: Western United to win the match ($2.45)

Western United to win 2-1

Wellington Phoenix vs Perth Glory – Leichardt Oval

Wellington Phoenix ($2.4)

Perth Glory ($2.9)

Draw ($3.55)

Wellington Phoenix will be looking to bounce back from a couple of poor results as they take on lowly Perth Glory. Phoenix had started the season very well but defeats to Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets has certainly checked their progress somewhat and they will be looking to build some confidence here. Perth Glory are struggling at the bottom of the table and are in serious need of both points and inspiration. This should be a decent game, with Wellington Phoenix potentially having just a little bit too much quality when it matters.

Betting tip: Wellington Phoenix to win the match ($2.4)

Wellington Phoenix to win 2-1

Central Coast Mariners vs Adelaide United – Central Coast Stadium

Central Coast Mariners ($2.45)

Adelaide United ($2.9)

Draw ($3.6)

Central Coast Mariners will be looking to maintain their play-off push as they take on Adelaide United. Mariners are often blighted by inconsistency but they’re unbeaten in their last 4 matches and have the look of a side that could push this season in the race for the top six. Adelaide United meanwhile sit 3rd and although they’ve had their progress checked in the past couple of games, they are still very much in the mix at the top end of the table. There is very little to split these sides and it should be a fascinating encounter that ends up as a draw.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6)

1-1 Draw

Macarthur FC vs Melbourne City – Campbelltown Sports Stadium

Macarthur FC ($4.2)

Melbourne City ($1.83)

Draw ($3.8)

Table topping Melbourne City travel to Macarthur FC in what promises to be one of the best matches of the game week. Macarthur have enjoyed some good results already this term and find themselves sat 4th in the table but they haven’t been able to fully prove themselves in games such as this so far this term. For City, this presents another opportunity to put distance between themselves and the chasing pack in the A-League table. City have hit a bit of a dry patch, with back to back draws and with Macarthur sure to be bang up for this one, it could be another stalemate.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.8)

1-1 Draw

Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers – AAMI Park

Melbourne Victory ($1.83)

WSW ($4.5)

Draw ($3.9)

Melbourne Victory will be hoping to build on their unbeaten run as they take on WSW. Victory have been in the play-off hunt throughout this season and recent results have suggested that they are there to stay this season. WSW meanwhile have really struggled for consistency this season, but they have a side packed with quality, who are capable of beating anybody on their day. This should be a very good game, between two exciting sides and Melbourne Victory are perhaps the most likely to pick up the win.

Betting tip: Melbourne Victory to win the match ($1.83) – Bet @ Sportsbet

Melbourne Victory to win 2-1
