The Australian Guineas is a massive stepping stone in the career of the staying three-year-olds, so it should be another classic edition.

Australian Guineas Form Guide & Tips
1. Hitotsu ($4.80) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Derby winner doesn’t often come back and win fresh up, but there has been excellent betting support for Hitotsu.
His win in the Derby was special and he must be working the house down, so keep him in mind.
2. Captivant ($6.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Snowden-trained colt is warming up to the task after two solid efforts and he’s another well-backed type.
He runs his best races over the distance and he finished second in the Caulfield Guineas, so the form checks out.
3. Profondo (Best Bet – $4.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Profondo is a nice type in the making, and although drawing barrier 15 hurts, he has time to find cover.
His two wins last preparation were outstanding and we don’t think he’ll be needing the fitness, so we’re prepared to put him on top.
We expect late betting support to come his way.
4. Forgot You (Best Roughie – $10) Bet @ Sportsbet
The colt by Savabeel is better off with a run under his belt, which was a smart effort for fourth behind Pinstriped.
Despite not running well at Flemington in the past, Forgot You is classy at best and punters get lovely odds.
Include him in selections.
5. Alegron ($71) Bet @ Sportsbet
Ruling out a James Cummings-trained runner isn’t smart, but we can’t find room for Alegron on Saturday.
He didn’t do much fresh up and we needed to see more than that.
6. Coastwatch ($16) Bet @ Sportsbet
We feel like he’d be much shorter in the betting had he drawn a barrier. He draws barrier 18, which makes it tough to settle forward.
The class is there and he showed good fight to score at Caulfield, so keep him safe.
7. Lightsaber ($14) Bet @ Sportsbet
The enigmatic colt is talented enough to win the Australian Guineas, but we’re having a hard time trusting him.
He blew the start in the Orr Stakes last time out before being scratched last week, so it’s not an ideal preparation.
8. Ranch Hand ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
Running fourth behind Anamoe is good form and the son of Fastnet Rock can’t be ruled out.
He is dangerous when his mind is on the job and given the $17 available, he’s a first four chance in the Guineas.
9. Pinstriped (Best Each Way – $8.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
Pinstriped is unbeaten from three starts and he got the better of some race rivals last time out.
He won at Flemington by a half-length and we’re expecting the form out of that race to hold up, so the $8.50 is a fair price.
He’s an exciting type who looks ready to run another big race.
10. Rhinoceros ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Kiwi runner won back-to-back races last preparation but he hasn’t done much since, hence the triple-figure odds.
11. Spirit of Gaylard ($61) Bet @ Sportsbet
He won twice last preparation but not at this level. We would prefer to see him in something a little easier.
12. Sharp Response ($46) Bet @ Sportsbet
Sharp Response has ability but he’s another runner who have questions about at this level.
He was only 1.6 lengths behind Coastwatch last start but he’ll need to find a couple of lengths.
13. Prix de Turn ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
He looked good winning by three lengths at Sandown last start, but this is a serious rise in class.
Barrier 16 doesn’t help and we don’t like his chances from out there.
14. Zerelle ($91) Bet @ Sportsbet
Zerelle is shooting for three consecutive and good on connections for having a go, but he would need to improve to win.
It should be too tough from a wide barrier, so wait for something easier.
15. Pascero ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
Money has come for Pascero, who finished only a half-length behind Pinstriped and that’s good form for the Guineas.
His first two wins were impressive and he’s good enough to figure in the finish.
16. Bon’s a Pearla ($61) Bet @ Sportsbet
She looked good early on but she has been found out against the harder types. We expect much of the same here.
17. Maurice’s Medad ($41) Bet @ Sportsbet
He’s only a one-race winner and we thought he would be at longer odds. Likely to push forward and try to hold on.
18. Corona Lad ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
He didn’t handle the rise in class last start and the odds are accurate.
