Blue Diamond Stakes Form Guide & Tips

1. Semillion ($19) Bet @ Sportsbet

Drawing barrier 16 could put a line through Semillion’s chances. He has Damien Oliver in the saddle, but despite owning good form, it’ll be tough from out there.

2. Lofty Strike ($6) Bet @ Sportsbet

Unbeaten after two starts, Lofty Strike has upside. The colt won at Caulfield by 1.3 lengths over Semillion last start, so he can’t be left out.

$6 is a fair price if he gets luck from the draw.

3. Daumier ($14) Bet @ Sportsbet

He scored a half-length win over Rampant Lion on debut before running third behind Lofty Strike, so the form checks out.

Barrier five is ideal and we wouldn’t leave him out of first four selections.

4. Sebonack ($8.50) Bet @ Sportsbet

A winner at Caulfield on debut. We’re not sure how strong the form is, but he’s a speedy colt that could go slightly under the radar.

Keep safe and watch for late betting moves.

5. Counttheheadlights ($16) Bet @ Sportsbet

The colt finished fourth behind the likes of Lofty Strike and Semillion last start. We’re not sure if he’s good enough to turn the tables on that effort.

He hasn’t attracted much money, but he should run in the first half of the field.

6. Jacquinot (Best Bet – $4.80) Bet @ Sportsbet

We are keen on this colt by Rubick, who missed the jump last start and was desperately unlucky not to win.

He settled too far back before running into horses in the straight, which came on the back of a superb debut win.

He’s the standout runner and we’re happy with the $4.80.

7. Rampant Lion (Best Roughie – $16) Bet @ Sportsbet

Rampant Lion has yet to win from two starts, but he’s a work in progress and we’ll worth backing at the price.

He was second behind Daumier last start, who we think highly of. The fresh up run should have him in fit order and the $16 could boost payouts.

8. Merchant Prince ($81) Bet @ Sportsbet

Big odds are available and rightfully so. This level of racing might be too much for him at this stage.

9. Flashing Steel ($201) Bet @ Sportsbet

Probably fortunate to make the field. Placed at his first two starts but he did little last time out.

Big odds available for the despised outsider.

10. Hafey ($16) Bet @ Sportsbet

A dominant winner on debut at Bendigo when pushing forward and never giving the field a look-in.

It’s an interesting runner who could go under the radar. He’s going into first-four calculations based on the ease of that win.

11. Revolutionary Miss (Best Each Way – $7.50) Bet @ Sportsbet

We like the progeny of Russian Revolution and this filly has plenty of upside after beating a quality field at Caulfield.

She took her Sydney form and produced it in Melbourne, so it could stack up again with 55kg on her back.

12. Miss Roseiano ($11) Bet @ Sportsbet

A winner on debut before finishing second behind Revolutionary Miss last time out. That’s solid form and she has been supported.

It’s her third start at Caulfiel, so she knows the track well.

13. Kiki Express ($81) Bet @ Sportsbet

A narrow winner on debut over Brereton. Not much has gone right since, but punters get value odds at $81.

An upset win wouldn’t be the strangest thing we’ve ever seen.

14. English Riviera ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet

Expensive bet so far after two placings from two starts. She is always well-backed, but bookmakers are offering better odds this time around.

She might need to find a length to test them.

15. Waltz on By ($26) Bet @ Sportsbet

Hit the front a little too soon at Flemington last Saturday, but being on the quick back-up isn’t the worst thing for her.

She gets the inside draw and she could kick and hold on for a win or placing.

16. Seven Sisters ($35) Bet @ Sportsbet

Not too far away so far, so it’s hard to discount her. There are just so many winning chances, we can’t find room for her.
