We have expert betting tips for the Chipping Norton Stakes this Saturday at Randwick which features a quality field of 13 of the best in Australia.
A heavy track is likely for race day, but it won’t dampen the chances of the favourites, who have all been well-backed.

Chipping Norton Stakes Form Guide & Tips
1. Think It Over (Best Each Way – $4) Bet @ Sportsbet
Think It Over won’t want the track too heavy, but he’s in fine form and should be respected regardless.
He owns four wins on a soft track and has yet to win or place in the heavy, but after rattling off four consecutive wins, we can’t overlook his chances.
Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.
2. Kolding ($61) Bet @ Sportsbet
He hasn’t come back this season and he’s another runner who doesn’t enjoy running on rain-affected tracks.
Six of his 11 wins have come at Randwick, but we couldn’t include him in selections.
3. Top Ranked ($10) Bet @ Sportsbet
A former European who ran well for third at Newcastle in his Australian debut.
Having Hugh Bowman in the saddle is ideal and all six of his career wins have come over this distance, so we wouldn’t be leaving him out of calculations.
Punters get odds worth taking.
4. Mount Popa ($67) Bet @ Sportsbet
He runs his best races on the track but his form would need to improve to win the Chipping Norton Stakes.
The conditions won’t be an issue and drawing barrier 13 hurts, so we wouldn’t be including him.
5. Angel of Truth ($67) Bet @ Sportsbet
Only a one-time winner at Randwick from 13 attempts and he could be a touch one-paced to win this race.
Bookmakers have big odds available and rightfully so.
6. Stockman ($31) Bet @ Sportsbet
From his five starts on a heavy track, he owns three wins and two second placings, so he can’t be overlooked.
Most of those runs didn’t come at Group 1 level, but he’s a mud lark and he could provide punters with big odds.
First four claims at best, but we wouldn’t overlook his chances.
7. Maximal ($27) Bet @ Sportsbet
More was expected for Maximal when running last at Randwick, so it’s tough to back the former European with any confidence.
He gets the inside draw which is likely to be a negative and we can’t entertain his chances.
8. Verry Elleegant ($3) Bet @ Sportsbet
She relishes the wet tracks, and although seventh fresh up, she was always going to need to the run.
The 15-time winner has class on her side and having James McDonald in the saddle could make all the difference.
She’s not our top pick, but she’s a very close second.
9. Colette (Best Bet – $3.90) Bet @ Sportsbet
Colette is our top pick because she is unbeaten in heavy conditions and she grows another leg in the wet.
The James Cummings-trained mare finished second behind Think It Over last start on a good track, so punters should expect an even better effort on Saturday.
She’ll track the speed from barrier three and launch with her customary late sprint.
10. Montefilia (Best Roughie – $18) Bet @ Sportsbet
She runs some of her best races fresh up and she enjoys racing on wet tracks, so the signs are positive.
The four-year-old mare comes off a solid trial effort at Rosehill and she looks set to be in the thick of the action.
Take the $18 as that price could firm on race day. The $4 to place is also a generous quote.
11. Hungry Heart ($27) Bet @ Sportsbet
She hasn’t quite matured after showing excellent signs as a three-year-old.
Hungry Heart runs best on good tracks, so we think the $27 will continue to drift and she shouldn’t be a factor.
12. She’s Ideel ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
She’s Ideel should be run off her feet as she’s targeting longer races later in the autumn.
Connections will be happy if she gets back and hits the line nicely, but she’s not a betting proposition.
13. Duais ($46) Bet @ Sportsbet
In a similar boat to She’s Ideel. Needs another run for fitness as she prepares for longer races.
