Futurity Stakes Form Guide & Tips

1. I’m Thunderstruck (Best Bet – $4) Bet @ Sportsbet

I’m Thunderstruck was always going to need the fresh up run and we liked the way he hit the line.

He is a six-time winner from 10 starts, including the Golden Eagle at Rosehill to end his last preparation. He’s classy and demands respect against this field.

We expect him to settle a touch handier in the smaller field and he could power home best.

2. Streets of Avalon ($21) Bet @ Sportsbet

The seven-year-old hasn’t been running up to his usual level this season, so we’re prepared to leave him out.

He owns 10 wins and 20 placings, so he always demands respect, but he’ll be doing well to keep up with the favourites.

3. Mo’unga ($5.50) Bet @ Sportsbet

We haven’t been impressed with Mo’unga’s trial efforts and we think he might need the run to show his best.

The quality son of Savabeel finished third behind Zaaki last start and he’s a three-time winner at the distance, but Caulfield isn’t ideal.

We’re prepared to leave him out of our top selections, but he goes into trifecta and first four calculations.

4. Tofane ($2.60) Bet @ Sportsbet

Tofane held them all off last time out at Caulfield and we’re not surprised by the money coming for the favourite.

She is a classy mare and she owns four wins at the distance and two wins at Caulfield, so the conditions are ideal.

She might need to improve to win again, but she’s a must-have in selections.

5. Sierra Sue ($8.50) Bet @ Sportsbet

Sierra Sue is classy at best and she’s a two-time winner with one run under her belt.

There was nothing wrong with her fourth behind Tofane fresh up and it looked like she needed the run, so punters shouldn’t overlook her chances off the inside draw.

She goes into trifecta and first four calculations.

6. Turaath (Best Each Way – $12) Bet @ Sportsbet

Turaath faces her toughest test but we’re keeping the faith with the front-running mare.

She could get a soft lead in front and provide a good kick, which always helps around Caulfield.

All five of her wins have come over the distance and with two runs under her belt this preparation, she looks ready to fire.

Take the $12 available.

7. Extreme Flight (Best Roughie – $14) Bet @ Sportsbet

Extreme Flight showed his class when winning three consecutive races last preparation.

The three-year-old showed good fight when winning at Caulfield before struggling behind Home Affairs at Group 1 level, but he should be better suited here.

Carrying 55.5kg is ideal and punters get odds worth taking.

8. Mr Mozart ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet

We’re not sure if Mr Mozart will run in the Futurity Stakes, but we don’t give him much of a chance either way.

He finished last behind Marine One in a much easier race last start and he should struggle with the quality of the opposition.
