Queen of the Turf Stakes Form Guide & Tips

1. Colette (Best Bet – $4) Bet @ Neds
Colette owns placings behind Forbidden Love and Think It Over this preparation, so she must be put on top.
She has form around some of the best thoroughbreds in the country and racing on heavy conditions has never been an issue.
We’re happy with the $4 available.
2. Lighthouse ($14) Bet @ Neds
The former US-based runner hasn’t done much wrong since arriving in Australia. She didn’t fire last start but that was a tough outing.
Her odds have drifted, but we wouldn’t be surprised if she figured in the money.
3. Icebath ($5) Bet @ Neds
Big money has come for Icebath, who ran third in the Doncaster Mile last week. Backing that up is tough, which is our worry.
However, she’s classy at best and we have to respect the money coming for her after opening at $7.
4. Shout the Bar ($26) Bet @ Neds
Shout the Bar got back to her best form last time out but we don’t see that continuing again.
It’s a much harder task and despite showing good barrier speed, she should be run down in the straight.
5. Hungry Heart ($34) Bet @ Neds
We have given Hungry Heart many chances to rediscover her best form, but she’s not running well enough for our liking.
She wasn’t too bad fresh up, but it would be a surprise if she won on Saturday.
6. Nimalee ($27) Bet @ Neds
We would prefer to back Nimalee in slightly better conditions. She is never too far away from the prize and Damien Oliver rides, but we’re not including her.
7. Promise of Success ($13) Bet @ Neds
A last-start winner at Newcastle when beating a moderate field and she would need to find a length to win.
Her form at Randwick is good and she has been fancied at double-figure odds, so she can’t be ruled out.
8. Vangelic ($41) Bet @ Neds
She has yet to win at Randwick from 10 attempts and we don’t think that statistic will change in the Queen of the Turf.
She’s not suited by the weights and her odds could drift.
9. Annavisto ($17) Bet @ Neds
Annavista has yet to race at Randwick and we expect more from her at Newcastle last start.
Her form in Melbourne has been exceptional, but the extreme heavy conditions might not play to her strengths.
10. Quantum Mechanic ($26) Bet @ Neds
In the same boat as Annavisto. Good form in Melbourne but we can’t see that translating well in Sydney in the wet.
Too inconsistent to back with any confidence.
11. Mirra Vision ($67) Bet @ Neds
Mirra Vision is a two-time winner at Randwick but she has never won in heavy conditions, so we’re not including her.
Her odds have drifted from an opening quote of $34, which is telling.
12. Steinem ($26) Bet @ Neds
Rising in distance is ideal and she’s too good to leave out completely. We have time for Steinem and she enters first four bets.
13. Le Lude ($81) Bet @ Neds
A wet track specialist but she’ll be outclassed in this race. Big odds available for a reason.
14. Yonce (Best Each Way – $6.50) Bet @ Neds
The unbeaten mare has yet to taste defeat from six starts and she deserves her chance at the big time.
She has been destroying her opposition in Melbourne and the daughter of Proisir gets every chance off the inside draw.

15. Fangirl (Best Roughie – $11) Bet @ Neds
Fangirl comes off a win at Newcastle and we see nothing wrong with that form. The Waller-trained filly has upside and she doesn’t mind the wet.
She got the better of Hinged, so the Oaks form prior in the day could stack up nicely for Fangirl.
16. Yearning ($51) Bet @ Neds
The odds for Yearning are drifting and we can’t make room for her. She did well enough last start but this is a competitive affair.
17. Barb Raider ($34) Bet @ Neds
Barb Raider is a tough customer who could handle the wet. We think she’s a value addition at the current price.
18. Never Been Kissed ($31) Bet @ Neds
Makes her own luck, but her best form has come on good tracks. Might be tested here.
