We have expert betting tips for Super Rugby Pacific Playoffs Week 1 which kicks off on Friday night with the Crusaders vs Reds.

There are four Super Rugby playoff games to bet on and all but one New Zealand team is favoured to win.

Friday 3/6/22

5:05pm Crusaders vs Reds @ Orangetheory Stadium

The Crusaders are firm favourites to beat the Reds and it doesn’t come as a surprise. The Reds aren’t the same team they were last season, so they’ll do well to keep this game close.

They faced each other last week and it was the Crusaders winning 28-15, so the margin was only 13 points, but with a spot in the semifinals on the line, the Crusaders could come out with more force.

Bookmakers have the current betting spread at 19.5 points, so they’re expecting the Crusaders to pick up their act and put the Reds to the sword.

There is enough talent on the Reds roster to keep it close, but playing the Crusaders on the road two weeks straight is a recipe for disaster, so take the home side to score comfortably.

2:35pm Chiefs vs Waratahs @ FMG Stadium

Bookmakers are giving the Chiefs plenty of respect at $1.20, which could be too short for our liking.

We have little doubt that they are the better team than the Waratahs, but they have been inconsistent and we’re not sure what to expect.

We didn’t see much from them last week when scraping past the Drua 35-34, so they’ll need to play much better to progress to the semis.

The Waratahs are another team that is tough to back with confidence, but they showed good skill when losing to the Blues 20-17 last week. The Blues had their second-string outfit on the park but it should give them confidence.

Bookmakers have the Waratahs at +10.5 and we can’t turn down those points.

Betting tip: Waratahs +10.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

5:05pm Blues vs Highlanders @ Eden Park

The Blues have been the standout team all season and we have no reason to bet against them on Saturday.

They are the raging-hot $1.06 favourites to beat fellow New Zealand franchise the Highlanders, who have had a long and tough season, but did enough to make the playoffs.

We’re not entirely sure the Highlanders deserve to be in the playoffs following a 31-30 loss to the Rebels, but either way, it doesn’t bode well against the Blues.

We don’t think they’re good enough to cover the +15.5-point spread as the Blues could pile on the points and runaway for an effortless victory.

Betting tip: Blues –15.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Brumbies vs Hurricanes @ GIO Stadium

Getting a good betting guide for the Brumbies and Hurricanes is difficult, especially based on their dour Round 15 efforts.

The Brumbies lost to Moana Pasifika and the Hurricanes lost to the Force, so a big rebound effort is needed from the winner.

We give the slight edge to the Brumbies, who have looked the better team throughout the year. They were easily the best Australian team, and although the Hurricanes are dangerous, it hasn’t been their season.

Take the Brumbies –3.5 at a generous price.

Betting tip: Brumbies –3.5 @ $1.93 Bet @ PlayUp
