Friday 22/4/22

6:00pm Chiefs vs Waratahs @ Melbourne Stadium

The Kiwis come to town and the Chiefs are odds-on to kick off the trans-Tasman battle with a win.

They are $1.05 to beat the Waratahs, despite the Waratahs beating the Force 41-24 last week, but it shows the difference between the nations.

Chiefs’ fans were happy with the 45-12 win over Moana Pasifika last week, which holds them in good stead against a team like the Waratahs.

Bookmakers have the line at 17.5, which favours the Chiefs. Take them to score a comfortable victory.

Betting tip: Chiefs –17.5 @ $1.90 – Bet @ PlayUp

8:30pm Moana Pasifika vs Force @ Melbourne Stadium

It’s hard to find positives for these two teams. Moana Pasifika sit at the bottom of the table in their first Super Rugby season, but the Force have no excuses.

They have two wins from eight games but have looked particularly poor over the last couple of weeks.

It could give Moana Pasifika an ideal chance to snatch a win on Friday night and they have been well-supported with bookmakers.

Punters get $2.08 and that price is worth taking for the more exciting team, who could do with a victory.

Betting tip: Moana Pasifika @ $2.08 – Bet @ PlayUp

5:05pm Blues vs Fijian Drua @ Melbourne Stadium

We don’t hold much hope in the Fijian Drua keeping this game close and bookmakers agree.

The current line is 29.5 points, and considering the Blues lead the Super Rugby competition after beating the Crusaders, they’re not the team the Drua want to face.

Most of the early money has come for the Blues at the line and we see it shifting from 29.5 to around 33.5 come kick off.

Betting tip: Blues –29.5 @ $1.90 – Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Hurricanes vs Reds @ Melbourne Stadium

Betting markets are giving the Reds respect, but we haven’t been overly impressed with their local form.

They have been struggling to beat teams they should put away with ease, so the Hurricanes should feel confident of producing the goods.

They might be sitting lower on the Super Rugby ladder with four wins from eight games, compared to seven wins for the Reds, but the Hurricanes play a better style of rugby and it could pay off on Saturday.

With only 7.5 points between them with the sportsbook, we’re taking the Hurricanes to make a statement.

Betting tip: Hurricanes –7.5 @ $1.86 – Bet @ PlayUp

2:00pm Highlanders vs Brumbies @ Melbourne Stadium

The Highlanders were desperately unlucky not to beat the Hurricanes last week, but we don’t think they should be short favourites.

It has been a long and tough season for the Highlanders, who have only one win from eight games. It’s not a good record, and although Australian teams are easier, they’re facing a tough Brumbies outfit.

Bookmakers have the Highlanders at $1.46, which is a scary price. Given the line is only 5.5 points, we’re taking the Brumbies at $2.67.

It’s a value price for Australia’s best team, who will want to show up.

Betting tip: Brumbies @ $2.67 – Bet @ PlayUp

4:30pm Crusaders vs Rebels @ Melbourne Stadium

It was a tough outing for the Crusaders against the Blues last week, but they shouldn’t have any problem getting past the Rebels.

The Crusaders are still a top pick to win the competition and the Rebels haven’t looked good against inferior teams, so bookmakers have the line right.

It’s currently at 27.5 points, which is a hefty line to cover in an 80-minute contest, but the Crusaders could pile on the points with ease.

Betting tip: Crusaders –27.5 @ $1.90 – Bet @ PlayUp
