Friday 6/5/22

7:05pm Blues vs Rebels @ Eden Park

There weren’t many Kiwi teams winning last week but the Blues were one of them.

They continued their impressive form with a hard-fought 22-18 win over the Force, which isn’t an excellent form guide, but it keeps them at the top of the ladder.

The Rebels scored a rare win when beating Moana Pasifika, which isn’t a good form guide. However, it should give them confidence going forward.

Taking on the Blues at Eden Park is tough and we expect the Blues to be back at their brilliant best and cover the 23.5-point spread.

Betting tip: Blues –23.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Reds vs Highlanders @ Suncorp Stadium

The Reds stuck with the Chiefs for longer than we thought last week, which holds them in good stead against the struggling Highlanders.

It has been a dismal season for the Highlanders, who could only beat the Fijian Drua by three points, which is a win but it doesn’t look good on the record.

If the Reds consider themselves as one of the better Australian teams, they’ll need to produce the goods against New Zealand’s worst team with home field advantage.

Betting tip: Reds –4.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

Saturday 7/5/22

2:35pm Moana Pasifika vs Waratahs @ Mt Smart Stadium

Coming off their best win in years, the Waratahs now look to build their momentum against one of the weaker teams in the competition.

The Waratahs upset the Crusaders 24-21 as the +22.5-point underdogs, so it was one of the biggest upsets in Super Rugby history.

Despite playing on the road this week, they should be miles too good if they’re able to keep playing at that level.

Take the Waratahs –8.5 in what could be a one-sided game.

5:05pm Chiefs vs Brumbies @ FMG Stadium

The Chiefs narrowly escaped against the Reds and they’ll need to improve to beat the Brumbies despite what the odds suggest.

The Brumbies are the best Australian team in the competition and they showed that when beating the Hurricanes 42-25, but the sportsbook has the Brumbies at $3.60.

Getting +7.5 could be the way to go in this game, and although it’s much harder to win on the road, the Chiefs haven’t been excellent this season.

Take the Brumbies to score an upset win.

Betting tip: Brumbies +7.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Force vs Crusaders @ NIB Stadium

We’re not sure what went wrong with the Crusaders last week, but we’re confident they’ll right their wrongs against the Force.

The Force pushed the Blues to their limit in a 22-18 loss, but we don’t think they’ll have the same success two weeks running.

The Crusaders will be hell bent on turning their performance around and that could come at the expense of the Force, who never play well against the Crusaders.

Take the visitors –18.5 and expect a comfortable cover.

Betting tip: Crusaders –18.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp

Sunday 8/5/22

1:35pm Hurricanes vs Fijian Drua @ Wellington Stadium

The Hurricanes entered their game against the Brumbies with a chance, but it was an uninspiring performance from the Kiwi side.

Better execution is expected against the Fijian Drua on Sunday, who are coming off an inspired performance against the Highlanders, albeit a losing one.

The Hurricanes should have too much firepower for the Drua, which is why bookmakers have a sizable line of 15.5.

Betting tip: Hurricanes –15.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ PlayUp
