Sydney Cup Form Guide & Tips

1. The Chosen One ($12) Bet @ Neds

The Kiwi runner has been right around the mark this season and we wouldn’t leave him out of calculations.

He is classy enough to beat this field and racing over 3200m has never been a concern.

2. Daqiansweet Junior ($26) Bet @ Neds

Another Kiwi runner with excellent form, but most of his best form has come on dry tracks.

His odds are drifting and there’s a good reason for that.

3. Knights Order ($9.50) Bet @ Neds

Nothing wrong with his second placing last start and he won’t have much problem finding the front off the inside draw.

Specked at each-way odds and we’re not leaving him out of calculations.

4. Stockman (Best Bet – $4.80) Bet @ Neds

A winner at Rosehill in heavy conditions two back before running second behind Duais at Group 1 level.

That’s excellent form for the Sydney Cup and carrying 51kg over this distance is a steal, so he should be tough to hold out.

5. Crystal Pegasus (Best Each Way – $7) Bet @ Neds

The son of Australia has rattled off four consecutive wins, and although they haven’t come at Randwick or in the wet, he has upside.

He knows where the line is and he has the Chris Waller polish, plus Jamie Kah in the saddle.

6. Angel of Truth ($31) Bet @ Neds

We were a touch disappointed with his effort last time out and he could be floundering in the straight.

He owns only one win from 14 starts at Randwick, so we’re prepared to leave him out.

7. Sheraz (Best Roughie – $11) Bet @ Neds

His form since arriving in Australia hasn’t been up to scratch, but we’re prepared to give him another chance.

The son of Sea the Stars is talented at best and he handled wet conditions when racing overseas, so he commands attention.

8. No Compromise ($10) Bet @ Neds

It was good to see him get an overdue win last start and he will enjoy the 3200m distance of the Sydney Cup.

Carrying a light weight is ideal and there has been solid specking in the market, so don’t leave him out of selections.

9. Luncies ($9) Bet @ Neds

He has yet to win at Randwick and yet to win this preparation, but he has been respected in betting markets

We’re not sure if he’s a $9 chance, but he’s another runner that has upside over this distance. Keep safe.

10. Future Score ($41) Bet @ Neds

Not far away in recent races but those were a level below what he faces here.

11. Surefire ($12) Bet @ Neds

He owns seven starts for four wins and two placings, so his record is excellent and he lost no admirers when second behind No Compromise.

He hit the line nicely and the $12 is worth including.

12. Tigertiger ($34) Bet @ Neds

He ran second behind Crystal Pegasus two back at Flemington but he was five lengths behind.

He would need to lift on that performance and we can’t see that happening.

13. Chalk Stream ($9) Bet @ Neds

Chalk Stream had good betting support at Rosehill when finishing third after travelling three-wide throughout.

It was a tough effort, and if it hasn’t taken too much out of him, he should be right in the mix.

14. Alakahan ($67) Bet @ Neds

Not too far away at his last two runs but that form needs to improve to win the Sydney Cup. The odds reflect his chances.

15. Le Baol ($51) Bet @ Neds

Yet to be tested over this distance after competing at 2000m his last two starts. We would prefer to see him in something much easier.

16. Dadoozdart ($81) Bet @ Neds

Another runner who is better suited to something easier. Likely to struggle here.

17. Kaapfever ($151) Bet @ Neds

Big odds available and he’s likely to struggle in the conditions.

18. Sweet Thomas ($201) Bet @ Neds

We would be surprised to see him figuring in the finish.

19. South Pacific ($201) Bet @ Neds

Not running well enough to win this race. He has run out of chances.
