We have expert betting tips for AFL Round 20, which kicks off on Friday with the blockbuster between Fremantle and Melbourne.
It’s the business end of the season and there are some big games this week, so it’s a great time to load up the account.

8:10pm Fremantle Dockers vs Melbourne Demons @ Optus Stadium
Fremantle comes off a rare draw against the Richmond Tigers and it’s hard to weigh up the performance.
The Dockers have been excellent times and their best is better than the Demons in our opinion. Melbourne lost to the Western Bulldogs and it’s not looking as strong in recent weeks.
Fremantle are the slight underdogs and we’re taking the value.
Betting tip: Fremantle Dockers @ $1.98 Bet @ Neds
Dockers by 7
1:45pm Collingwood Magpies vs Port Adelaide Power @ MCG
We’re not sure how the Magpies managed to beat the Bombers after the final siren sounded but it was incredible scenes.
They had no right to win the game but the Magpies never-say-die attitude has enabled them to go on a winning streak and it should continue.
Port Adelaide lost to Geelong but played well last week. However, take the Magpies to continue their impressive run.
Betting tip: Collingwood Magpies @ $1.64 Bet @ Neds
Magpies by 10
2:10pm Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants @ SCG
The Swans were in full control against the Adelaide Crows last week and they’re odds-on to secure another victory.
There isn’t much going the way of the Giants, especially after scoring just 54 points in a losing effort to Carlton.
The current line is 30.5 points, which is a sizable spread. However, the Swans should have too much scoring power over the struggling Giants.
Betting tip: Sydney Swans –30.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
Swans by 38
4:35pm St Kilda Saints vs Hawthorn Hawks @ Marvel Stadium
St Kilda and Hawthorn faced inferior opponents last week and had no trouble getting the job done.
The Saints defeated the West Coast Eagles 90-62 and the Hawks got the better of the Kangaroos by 46 points.
At face value, the performance was better from the Hawks and they’re paying value odds of $2.39, which shouldn’t be overlooked in what should be a closely-fought game.
Betting tip: Hawthorn Hawks @ $2.39 Bet @ Neds
Hawks by 5
7:25pm Geelong Cats vs Western Bulldogs @ GMHBA Stadium
The Cats and Bulldogs have shown good form of late but the Cats are the stronger outfit at this stage.
They scored a gutsy 106-94 win over the Power in Adelaide, which isn’t an easy place to play and come away with the win.
The Dogs were too good for Melbourne and it was a statement win. However, circumstances are different in Round 20 and we’re picking the Cats to win and cover the spread.
Betting tip: Geelong Cats –19.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
Cats by 25
7:30pm Adelaide Crows vs Carlton Blues @ Adelaide Oval
Carlton is a top-quality team when it’s playing well, so the Blues should take care of business against the Crows.
Adelaide has been tough to follow at the best of times and that’s reflected in betting markets. Despite playing at home, the Crows are the $2.71 underdogs.
We think the Blues should have too many weapons and the –13.5 line is generous for followers of the visitors.
Betting tip: Carlton Blues –13.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
Blues by 23
1:10pm Gold Coast Suns vs West Coast Eagles @ Metricon Stadium
The Gold Coast Suns didn’t play too poorly when losing to the Brisbane Lions last week and they should get an easy win against the Eagles.
The Eagles have been one of the worst teams in the AFL competition this season and we can’t see their form improving.
We don’t think they’re good enough to cover the 35.5-point spread, so take the home side.
Betting tip: Gold Coast Suns –35.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
Suns by 46
3:20pm Richmond Tigers vs Brisbane Lions @ MCG
There is nothing separating the Tigers and Lions in betting markets but we’re picking the Tigers to sneak away with the win.
They played well enough when drawing with the tough Fremantle Dockers, which is a better performance than it looks.
Punters get $1.92 for the home side and playing at the MCG should be enough for the Tigers to edge clear of the Lions.
Betting tip: Richmond Tigers @ $1.92 Bet @ Neds
Tigers by 6
4:40pm Essendon Bombers vs North Melbourne Kangaroos @ Marvel Stadium
We are still scratching our heads at how Essendon lost last week, especially with its young star lining up a kick to put the game to bed.
It missed and the Magpies went the full length to kick the game-winning goal. It was heartbreak, but the Kangaroos are here to soothe the pain.
The Bombers should come away with a big win against the Kangaroos and right the ship.
Betting tip: Essendon Bombers –38.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
Bombers by 50
