Friday 5/08/22

7:50pm Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Magpies @ MCG

Melbourne showed its class last week when beating the Fremantle Dockers 85-39.

It was a premiership-like performance from the defending champions and it has shortened its odds to win the AFL Premiership.

Collingwood is playing well after winning another close game and they’re good enough to cause an upset, or at least keep it close with the +12.5 head start.

Betting tip: Collingwood Magpies +12.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

1:45pm Hawthorn Hawks vs Gold Coast Suns @ UoST

The Gold Coast Suns come off a win but they defeated the West Coast Eagles, so we’re not respecting the victory much.

We think bookmakers have the line off for this contest against the Hawks, who showed enough when losing to the St Kilda Saints.

It was a solid outing and they should have too much class for the Suns with home ground advantage.

Betting tip: Hawthorn Hawks @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

Hawks by 10

2:10pm GWS Giants vs Essendon Bombers @ GIANTS Stadium

Despite losing painfully to the Magpies two weeks ago, the Bombers got back to their best against the Kangaroos.

The 114-66 victory came against a struggling outfit but it was still a step in the right direction for Essendon, which should give the Giants something to worry about.

The Giants scored 39 points against the Swans, so take Essendon to score comfortably.

Betting tip: Essendon Bombers –6.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

Bombers by 15

4:35pm Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle Dockers @ Marvel Stadium

It has been a rough few weeks for the Fremantle Dockers but we’re sticking with them even through the adversity.

They come off a tough loss to the Melbourne Demons, but they should find playing against the Bulldogs more to their liking.

It’s not going to be an easy task against the $1.54 favourites, but we’re taking the $2.50 value for the Dockers to pull off an upset.

Betting tip: Fremantle Dockers @ $2.50 Bet @ Neds

Dockers by 5

7:25pm Geelong Cats vs St Kilda Saints @ GMHBA Stadium

The Geelong Cats came out ahead in their battle against the Bulldogs last week and they should have too much class for the Saints.

St Kilda looked good when beating the Hawks, but the level of opposition increases significantly and the Cats should score comfortably.

They will have to cover a 33.5-point margin, but given the power and scoring ability of the Cats, we’re taking them to win by 40+.

Betting tip: Geelong Cats –33.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

Cats by 43

7:40pm Port Adelaide vs Richmond Tigers @ Adelaide Oval

Port Adelaide is always tough to beat at home but there is good momentum with the Richmond Tigers following their win over the Brisbane Lions.

They are starting to look like premiership contenders and there is an upset in the making as the $2.14 underdogs.

The Power have shown toughness at home but we’re not convinced by the way they’re playing, so we’re picking the upset.

Betting tip: Richmond Tigers @ $2.15 Bet @ Neds

Tigers by 10

Sunday 7/08/22

1:10pm North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Sydney Swans @ Marvel Stadium

There is 45.5 points between the Kangaroos and Swans on Sunday, so it should be one-way traffic for the visitors.

The Swans should have too much class for the Kangaroos and they’re coming off a 73-point win over the Giants, so the Kangaroos could do well to keep it within that range.

We expect the line to move out throughout the week, so lock in the 45.5.

Betting tip: Sydney Swans -45.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

Swans by 52

3:20pm Brisbane Lions vs Carlton Blues @ Gabba

Inconsistency has plagued the Lions and Blues in recent times, so it shapes as an important contest.

The Lions couldn’t get past the Tigers last week in a tough battle, which holds them in good stead against the Blues, who disappointed mightily against the Crows.

Brisbane is a classy outfit on its day and the Lions should be too good defensively and thwart any attention from the Blues to put up a big number.

Betting tip: Brisbane Lions –14.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds

Lions by 22

4:10pm West Coast Eagles vs Adelaide Crows @ Optus Stadium

We can’t put our money with the West Coast Eagles and the Adelaide Crows come off a win, so that’s good enough for us.

The Crows don’t always play their best on the road but they can an ideal chance to win consecutive games against the struggling Eagles.

Take the –8.5 line as it could move to double digits on game day.

Betting tip: Adelaide Crows –8.5 @ $1.90 Bet @ Neds
