Belmont horse racing tips
Race 1. (14:03) Free Entry to Belmont Plate (1400m)
#1 – Paddy’s Lad – Bet @ Neds
The two-year-old won on debut at Belmont and we fancy his chances of winning again.
The son of Playing God won by two lengths as a $19 chance and he should be much shorter in the betting this time around.
Barrier 11 is the only worry but he has time to find cover.
Race 2. (14:43) Tabtouch Westspeed Handicao (1000m)
#3 – Famous Jurney – Bet @ Neds
Famous Jurney isn’t always the most consistent type going around but his win at Northam earlier this preparation was good.
The four-year-old gelding is also a two-time winner at the distance and getting 2kg off his back only helps his chances.
Include him at each-way odds.
Race 3. (15:23) Robert H. Lewis BM66 (2200m)
#2 – Reliable Star – Bet @ Neds
Reliable Star capped off solid form with a win at Belmont and she’s good enough to kick on with it.
The four-year-old mare scored by 1.8 lengths in good fashion and this race is there for the taking, so we fancy her chances.
It could pay to watch for any betting moves on race day.
Race 4. (15:59) Walker and McMaster 1MW (1200m)
#3 – Multinational – Bet @ Neds
Multinational is a course specialist with two wins and two placings from five starts, so he should be right around the mark.
The three-year-old son of Zoustar won by a nose at Belmont last start and dropping in weight with a 2kg claimer helps.
Punters should expect him to be tough to beat.
Race 5. (16:34) Amelia Park BM62 (1200m)
#2 – Bitofmerit – Bet @ Neds
Bitofmerit is unbeaten after three starts and the three-year-old gelding could have a bright future.
The son of Demerit won at Belmont last start by a half-length and all three of his wins have come on this track.
Punters took short odds last start and he could be at a similar price here.
Race 6. (17:10) Seacorp 1MW (1400m)
#4 – Catalpa – Bet @ Neds
Team Williams lines up Catalpa, who comes off a trial win at Lark Hill and he could be ready to show his best.
The three-year-old son of Rios owns two wins and three placings from nine starts, so he has plenty of upside.
We expect each-way odds on race day.
Race 7. (17:45) Owner Appreciation Day BM66 (1600m)
#5 – Brave Dream – Bet @ Neds
Brave Dream didn’t fire fresh up at Belmont but she was only 3.4 lengths behind the winner.
The Adam Durrant-trained five-year-old is a four-time winner from 13 starts and two of those wins have come at Belmont.
It’s a tough field but she could take advantage.
Race 8. (18:20) Beaufine Stakes (1000m)
#12 – Wilchino @ $1.85 – Bet @ Neds
Wilchino owns eight wins from 12 starts and the classy sprinter could kick-start her campaign in fine style.
The Daniel Morton-trained mare is unbeaten in three starts at Belmont and she pulled up with a problem in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes.
This is easier and she demands attention at the short odds.
Race 9. (18:55) Crown Perth BM72 (1300m)
#5 – Em Tee Aye – Bet @ Neds
The last-start winner is good enough to rise through the grades and we’re backing Em Tee Aye.
He loves racing at Belmont after posting a win and three placings, including a win last time out over a good field.
Punters could get value odds on race day.
