Canterbury horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:50) Schweppes Maiden Plate (1200m)

#11 – Sweet Baby Boom @ $3.90 – Bet @ PlayUp

Sweet Baby Boom has looked good at the trials and the daughter of Spirit of Boom could break through for her maiden win.

The two-year-old won and placed at the trials before finishing third on debut at Canterbury, which is a nice first-up effort.

She’ll head forward from the draw and show a good kick.

Race 2. (13:25) Vinery Yearlings Maiden Handicap (1550m)

#1 – Barrichello @ $5.50 – Bet @ PlayUp

It’s only a matter of time before Barrichello scores his maiden win and it could come at his tenth attempt.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding owns six placings from nine starts and five of those have come at Canterbury, so he knows the track well.

Punters get value odds and he shouldn’t be overlooked.

Race 3. (14:00) Davali Thoroughbreds BM72 (1200m)

#4 – Too Much Lippy @ $3 – Bet @ PlayUp

Too Much Lippy is a proven fresh up performer and she could get her campaign off a winning start.

The four-year-old daughter of More than Ready owns two wins from four starts overall and she won by 1.5 lengths at Wyong last preparation.

Her barrier speed could be too much for the opposition, so take the $3.

Race 4. (14:35) I Am Invincible BM68 (1200m)

#3 – Devil’s Throat @ $7.50 – Bet @ PlayUp

Devil’s Throat capped off three consecutive second placings with a win at Canterbury and he could go back-to-back.

The three-year-old son of Snitzel won at short odds and he has since added a trial placing to his record, so he looks ready to fire.

We’re not sure why bookmakers have him at $7.50, but we’re happy to take the value odds.

Race 5. (15:10) Palace Pier @ Darley BM88 (1100m)

#3 – Andermatt @ $2.60 – Bet @ PlayUp

Andermatt won at Kembla Grange last preparation before going out for a spell, which could be a good sign.

The James Cummings-trained son of Snitzel enjoys running with the sting out of the surface and he has been prepared with two trial placings.

The booking of James McDonald is a good sign and he should give punters a good sight.

Race 6. (15:45) Hyland Race Colours BM72 (1550m)

#10 – Readily Availabull @ $19 – Bet @ PlayUp

The John Sargent-trained gelding showed good ability early on and has disappointed since, but we’re keeping the faith.

He has been taking on tough fields and not running up to his best, but Sargent is persevering and getting the inside draw helps.

Keep him safe at a generous price.

Race 7. (16:20) First Justify Yearlings BM88 (1550m)

#9 – Diamil @ $2.05 – Bet @ PlayUp

Diamil hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, including two wins and four placings from eight starts.

The imported runner opened his Australian account with a placing at Canterbury before winning at Warwick Farm by 2.5 lengths.

The conditions suit and it’s another good ride for McDonald, so take the short odds.

Race 8. (16:55) Tab BM72 (1200m)

#12 – Game Theory @ $5.50 – Bet @ PlayUp

Game Theory scored by a half-length at Gosford last time out and he could kick on with the job.

The four-year-old gelding has always been around the mark and there has been solid betting support after opening at $6.50.

McDonald rides and he could end his day on a high.
