Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:40) The Big Screen Company BM84 (1400m)

#2 – In the Boat @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet

In the Boat looks to have a bright future after rattling off four consecutive wins and they came against nice opposition.

The Lindsay Smith-trained son of Nostradamus is unbeaten in two starts at Caulfield and getting a 2kg claimer in the saddle is a bonus.

Respect the amount of money coming for it.

Race 2. (13:15) Hyland Colours Autumn Stakes (1400m)

#1 – Coastwatch @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Coastwatch didn’t get all favours in Sydney last preparation, but that form stacks up nicely in Melbourne.

The Chris Waller-trained son of Fastnet Rock is a two-time winner at the distance and he gets all favours from the barrier two.

Craig Williams rides and punters get value each-way odds.

Race 3. (13:50) Neds Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m)

#5 – Jacquinot @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The two-year-old son of Rubick looks like a nice type in the making after winning on debut at Caulfield.

He won by 2.8 lengths after settling off the pace and he had plenty in hand at the line, which is always a good sign.

Getting the inside draw could be tricky, but he demands attention.

Race 4. (14:25) Neds Blue Diamond Prelude Fillies (1100m)

#8 – English Riviera @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The two-year-old filly wasn’t far behind the winner on debut as an odds-on favourite, so that form checks out.

She led the field before being run down in the shadows of the post, but leading at Caulfield is easier than down the straight at Flemington.

Drawing the rails makes it that much easier, so the $5 is ideal.

Race 5. (15:05) Senet Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m)

#6 – Scorched Earth @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Scorched Earth has been living up to her name after back-to-back wins at Flemington and Caulfield.

The John Moloney-trained filly is a four-time winner from nine starts and having Damien Oliver in the saddle from barrier three helps.

The $3.80 is likely to firm on race day, so take the odds available.

Race 6. (15:45) Keno T.S. Carlyon Cup (1600m)

#6 – Open Minded @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Open Minded is unbeaten after four starts at Caulfield and he could remain unbeaten on Saturday.

The five-year-old son of Jimmy Choux has yet to stretch out to the mile, but he sits on the pace and that’s always a positive.

He is another runner we’re expecting to firm in betting markets.

Race 7. (16:25) McCafe Rubiton Stakes (1100m)

#2 – Artorius @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Artorius is the best horse in the field and we’re hoping he’s forward enough to get the job done.

The Freedman-trained has yet to finish worse than third in three starts at Caulfield, so it’s a track he has performed well at.

He’ll head back from the draw and use his superior finishing sprint to get close to them. Punters get each-way odds to counter the risk.

Race 9. (17:40) Lamaro’s Bellmaine Stakes (1200m)

#1 – Probabeel @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Probabeel is a champion thoroughbred and she often kicks off her preparation with a victory.

The Kiwi-mare owns three wins and two second placings from six fresh up starts, so she likes to hit the ground running.

There is no runner in this field capable of matching her at her best, so we’re happy with the $1.95 available.
