Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:40) Neds Zeditave Stakes (1200m)

#2 – Generation @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Generation comes off an impressive win at Caulfield when beating some smart types by 1.3 lengths.

The Maher/Eustace-trained three-year-old owns two wins at Caulfield and three wins at the distance, so the statistics read well.

Barrier three is ideal and punters should take the $2.20 as it’s a value price in the opening race of the day.

Race 2. (13:15) Catanach’s Jewellers Mannerism (1400m)

#2 – Flying Mascot @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Flying Mascot finished a nose behind Probabeel last time out, which is excellent form for this level of racing.

The four-year-old owns four wins and four placings from 11 starts, so she’s consistent and punters shouldn’t be worried about the short odds.

We priced her around $1.65, so anything above that is a good price.

Race 3. (13:50) Stow Storage Autumn Classic (1800m)

#3 – Castlereagh Kid @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Castlereagh Kid was far too good for them at Sandown and he pushes forward and runs them into the ground.

His earlier win at Gosford came by eight lengths, so he’s a class above most of them and the well-bred son of Snitzel could handle the rise in class.

Having Damien Oliver in the saddle helps, so expect a big effort.

Race 4. (14:25) Neds Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m)

#4 – Argentia @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We’re going with another favourite, but Argentia looks tough to beat after scoring a gutsy win last time out.

The three-year-old daughter of Frankel owns two wins from three starts and she looks to have a bright future at top levels.

Getting the inside draw should see her run close.

Race 5. (15:05) Carlton Draught Peter Young (1800m)

#5 – Callsign Mav @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Kiwi showed his toughness when running second behind Earlswood last start and he’ll be better for the run.

He is a Group 1 winner in New Zealand and he likes to put himself in the race and fight to the line, which is a good quality to have.

He’ll have a few lengths on Cascadian around the turn, which could be enough.

Race 9. (17:40) Neds Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m)

#8 – Wyclif @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Danny O’Brien-trained five-year-old scored easily at Morphettville last time out and he’s a runner worth following.

He has placed once from two starts at Caulfield and he’s a past winner over this distance, so we’re prepared to take the odds available.

Desert Icon is a smart type and a worthy favourite at $2.25, but Wyclif has upside and we’re happy with the generous odds available. He could shorten on race day, so lock in the price.
