Doomben horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:58) Racecourse Village 0MW (1200m)
#1 – For My Annie – Bet @ Neds
For My Annie is a professional six-time winner from 16 starts and he could get back to his best on Saturday.
The six-year-old son of Shaft comes off a fourth at Doomben, which suggests he’s back to his best and he loves running over this distance.
We expect punters to get value odds.
Race 2. (12:33) Country Music Raceday BM90 (2200m)
#3 – Barade – Bet @ Neds
Barade turned his form around with a classy win at Doomben last start and he could handle this field.
The seven-year-old got the better of Fast Talking in the straight when scoring by a half-length, so there’s no reason to jump off his back.
Look for a strong market push on race day.
Race 3. (13:08) Cascade Handicap (1050m)
#1 – All That Pizzazz – Bet @ Neds
All That Pizzazz is seeking his third consecutive win after scoring at Sunshine Coast and Rockhampton.
The son of Spirit of Boom scored by 1.5 lengths as a $1.45 chance last start, and although this is harder, he has upside.
He’s in good hands with Tony Gollan, so keep him safe.
Race 4. (13:43) Gallopers Sports Club C6 (1350m)
#5 – Glitter Strip – Bet @ Neds
Glitter Strip is struggling to win races of late but the four-year-old mare is knocking on the door.
She has placed in four of her last five starts, including a second placing at Sunshine Coast last start behind Puntura.
Dropping to 54kg could make all the difference.
Race 5. (14:18) Sky Racing C3 Plate (1110m)
#4 – Mob Buster – Bet @ Neds
Mob Buster looked the goods last preparation when recording three wins and four placings from 13 starts.
The son of Spill the Beans hasn’t raced for almost a year but he looked good when placing in a recent trial at Eagle Farm.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 6. (14:57) BRC Family Raceday BM90 (1615m)
#5 – Puntura – Bet @ Neds
Puntura couldn’t have been more impressive last start when scoring by 3.8 lengths in heavy track conditions at Sunshine Coast.
The four-year-old son of Vespa has yet to win from two attempts at Doomben but it’s about time that changed.
He’s a six-time winner in the wet and that’s his biggest asset.
Race 7. (15:37) XXXX Dry BM75 (1615m)
#11 – Tarex @ $1.95 – Bet @ Neds
Tarex has been out of the money only once from seven career starts and we’re not surprised by the short odds.
The three-year-old gelding finished second in the Winx Guineas last start and group three form should hold up nicely against this company.
Take the short odds available.
Race 8. (16:13) BRC Membership Handicap (1050m)
#12 – Inasec – Bet @ Neds
Inasec hasn’t been the most consistent type this preparation but she looked good when winning at Doomben three back.
The Gollan-trained filly won by four lengths in heavy conditions and she could head forward and be tough to run down.
Carrying 53kg is ideal for the talented filly.
Race 9. (16:47) Tab Venue Mode C6 Handicap (1350m)
#3 – Palladas – Bet @ Neds
Palladas is better than a three-win runner and we’re keeping the faith with the four-year-old.
He comes off a fourth at Rockhampton and with four placings from five attempts at Doomben, he’s worth sticking with.
Punters should get a fair each-way price from bookmakers.
