Randwick horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:20) Schweppes Maiden (1100m)
#11 – Deep Expectation @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Deep Expectation was only a length behind a nice type last start and she has been best-backed to win.
The two-year-old filly sat on the pace and showed a good kick, which is an asset that could win her many races.
After opening at $8, her odds have been trimmed and we expect more money to come for the daughter of Deep Field on race day.
Race 2. (14:55) Harry Angel 1st Yearlings Maiden (1400m)
#2 – More from the Sky @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
More from the Sky showed solid form when placing twice last year, so he could go to another level with that under his belt.
The three-year-old son of Frankel finished second at Newcastle last start and he has since been primed with three good trial efforts.
1.5kg comes off his back and we’re not surprised by the amount of money coming for him.
Race 3. (15:30) Hyland Race Colours BM72 (1400m)
#1 – Café Royal @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Café Royal didn’t fire in a tough race at Randwick last start but punters shouldn’t drop her based on that effort.
The five-year-old mare has yet to race on this surface, but she loves the distance and dropping in class is a huge bonus.
She finished second at Warwick Farm two back and anything close to that effort should be good enough to handle this field.
Race 4. (16:05) Heineken 3 BM72 (1550m)
#1 – Easy Campese @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
John Sargent lines up the four-year-old gelding who owns two wins and a placing from three starts on the track.
He’s clearly the fastest horse in this race, but he has been plonked with 64.5kg on his back. However, the 3kg claim brings him to a more respectable weight.
Getting the inside draw should ensure he finds the front and kicks too strongly for the opposition.
Race 5. (16:40) Tab BM72 (1800m)
#3 – Galaxy Belle @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Consistency is with Galaxy Belle, who owns five wins and four placings from 14 career starts.
The four-year-old mare by Redwood comes off a win at Newcastle by 4.5 lengths, which was a dominant performance.
She’s unbeaten in three attempts over this distance and we’re surprised that bookmakers don’t have her shorter in the market. The $3.50 is worth snapping up before she firms on race day.
Race 6. (17:15) Vinery Yearlings BM72 (1000m)
#9 – Laurelin @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Laurelin didn’t handle the heavy track on debut at Randwick but she improved to score in better conditions last start.
The three-year-old filly by Lonhro scored by just under a length on this track and she has since won a trial in style.
She is a well-bred type and having James McDonald in the saddle only helps her chances of winning.
Race 7. (17:50) Bowermans BM72 (1400m)
#6 – Cape Breton @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cape Breton has faced some tough fields throughout his career and he’s better than this level of racing.
The three-year-old son of Vancouver finished seventh behind Bend the Knee at Flemington last start and he comes off a nice trial win at Rosehill.
James McDonald rides and we’re loving the $4.40 on offer from bookmakers.
