Flemington horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:40) The Stud & Stable Awards BM84 (2000m)

#5 – Crystal Pegasus @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Crystal Pegasus looked the goods when winning at Rosehill last start and that form bodes well at Flemington.

The Chris Waller-trained son of Australia is a four-time winner at the distance and having James McDonald in the saddle is a bonus.

Punters should expect a big effort first-up in Melbourne.

Race 2. (13:15) Buybetter @ Inglis BM84 (1600m)

#5 – Tuvalu @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Tuvalu is searching for his third consecutive win after scoring at Sandown and Warrnambool.

The Lindsay Smith-trained gelding has been given a soft time of it this preparation, but he looks well-placed for this level of racing.

The money is coming for him and that’s not surprising.

Race 3. (13:50) Vale Jack Strying Trophy BM78 (1600m)

#5 – Yonce @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Yonce looks to have a bright future after posting three wins from three starts, so she’s worth following.

The four-year-old mare by Proisir won narrowly at Caulfield last start and she showed toughness close to the line, which is always a good sign.

Barrier 11 isn’t ideal, but she’s versatile and she is the testing material.

Race 4. (14:25) Talindert Stakes (1100m)

#5 – Toronto Terrier @ $31 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We’re going rough in the Talindert Stakes with Toronto Terrier, who hasn’t been far behind some nice types.

The Mike Moroney stable is firing and the son of Toronado should get every chance in the run off an inside draw.

$31 is way over the odds and he could cause a big upset.

Race 5. (15:05) The Tab Vanity (1400m)

#8 – Finepoint @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Finepoint comes off consecutive wins at Randwick and Canterbury, and Sydney form usually stacks up nicely.

The Waller-trained daughter of Pins won narrowly at Canterbury when paying short odds, so punters should enjoy the $5 available.

It’s another good ride for McDonald and punters should be confident.

Race 6. (15:45) C S Hayes Stakes (1400m)

#7 – Pinstriped @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Pinstriped is looking to remain unbeaten after three starts and he has looked above average so far.

The three-year-old son of Street Boss won at Moe on debut by 5.5 lengths before sprinting over the top of them at The Valley in fine fashion.

He’s a group winner in the waiting and we’re happy with the odds available.

Race 8. (17:05) The Elms Handicap (1400m)

#12 – Corner Pocket @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Corner Pocket continues to defy the odds with five consecutive wins and the son of Toronado is a quality thoroughbred.

He defeated a nice field at The Valley last time out, and although yet to race at Flemington, he’s unbeaten in three starts over the distance.

Getting the inside draw with a light weight turns the tables in his favour.

Race 9. (17:40) Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour BM84 (1200m)

#10 – The Garden @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Garden finished second fresh up at Caulfield and he didn’t lose any admirers with the effort.

He is a three-time winner from seven starts and he gets all favours with only 55kg on his back, so we’re confident of a big effort.

$2.50 is a fair price and we expect those odds to firm throughout the week.
