Race 2. (18:45) BMD Group C1 Handicap (1600m)
#8 – Gonnadancealot @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lindsay Smith lines up the three-year-old filly who has taken on tough fields throughout her career.
The daughter of Sir Prancealot comes off a fourth placing at Warrnambool, which was a nice bounce back after struggling at Caulfield and Flemington.
This is a better level of racing and dropping to 56kg helps.
Race 4. (19:45) Ladbrokes 55 Second BM84 (955m)
#3 – Yulong Command @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Yulong Command is already a two-time winner from five starts this campaign, which includes three placings.
The four-year-old son of Written Tycoon owns four wins at Moonee Valley, so he’s a course specialist and that bodes well.
Getting the inside draw with a claimer in the saddle only strengthens his chances.
Race 6. (20:45) MCE Torney Night Cup (2500m)
#2 – Daqiansweet Junior @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Daqiansweet Junior is shooting for his fifth consecutive win after looking mightily impressive this season.
The former Kiwi scored at The Valley by a nose last start over fellow Kiwi In a Twinkling, which is an excellent form guide.
Money has come thick and fast for him, so we’re expecting big things.
Race 8. (21:45) Ladbrokes Same Race Multi BM64 (1200m)
#4 – Elite Icon @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Team McEvoy lines up the three-year-old gelding who showed them a clean pair of heels last time out.
The talented son of Nicconi scored by 4.3 lengths in a dominant fashion and we expect more of the same on Friday night.
He should push forward and try run them into the ground again. He’s a nice type in the making, so take the $2 available.
Race 2. (18:30) McCreery Maiden Plate (1250m)
#3 – Devil’s Throat @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Devil’s Throat is knocking on the door of a win after placing at Gold Coast and Randwick this preparation.
He was upset as the $1.65 favourite last time out, and although beaten, it was narrowly and he shouldn’t have lost any admirers.
Punters get better odds this time around and he’s a runner worth following.
Race 3. (19:00) Hyland Race Colours BM72 (1900m)
#1 – Mr Gee @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mr Gee is a four-time winner from 14 starts and he didn’t do much wrong fresh up when seventh at Randwick.
The four-year-old son of All Too Hard finished 2.2 lengths behind the winner in a much harder race, so that bodes well for this run.
He has to carry a big weight, but the 2kg claim is ideal and it should see him going close.
Race 5. (20:00) XXXX BM72 (1250m)
#2 – Black Duke @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We’re keeping the faith with Black Duke, who has been a touch expensive for punters this season.
The Richard Litt-trained four-year-old owns two wins at Canterbury, so having another run on the track is ideal after running second last start.
William Pike rides and we’re expecting a top effort.
Race 8. (21:30) Kia Evening Star BM78 (1550m)
#7 – Savoury @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Savoury had solid betting support at Randwick last start and the run was better than it looked.
The Bjorn Baker-trained son of Savabeel is a five-time winner from 25 starts and four of those wins have come at Canterbury.
Punters get value odds on Friday night, so put him on top.
