Bendigo

Race 1. (13:30) Catanach’s Jewellers Maiden (1100m)

#7 – Over Shady @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Over Shady looked good winning a jumpout at Mornington and she could make a winning debut.

The Matt Laurie-trained two-year-old is a well-bred daughter of Overshare and she showed good barrier speed, which always helps.

The early betting moves are a good sign.

Race 3. (14:30) Roll the Dice Racing Maiden (1300m)

#3 – Gold Logie @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Gold Logie is knocking on the door of a win after three consecutive placings and he deserves the victory.

The four-year-old gelding owns six placings from 10 starts, so he’s always around the mark and this isn’t a strong maiden field.

Take the $3 before it drops on race day.

Race 4. (15:00) Sheahan Plumbing Maiden (1400m)

#9 – Extreme Emotion @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The progeny of Extreme Choice are running well and it shouldn’t take long for Extreme Emotion to win.

She was only a length behind the winner at Bendigo last start, and although she was beaten as the $1.40 favourite, she still has upside.

Barrier three is ideal and punters get odds worth taking.

Race 7. (16:30) ADA Diggers BM64 (1400m)

#4 – Predetermined @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Predetermined is getting close to posting another win after running only 2.4 lengths behind the winner at Morphettville.

We expect South Australian form to stack up nicely at Bendigo and he ran third at his only start on the track.

It’s an even betting field and we’re happy with the $5 available.

Cranbourne

Race 2. (18:45) Browns Sawdust & Shavings Maiden (1400m)

#6 – Robert the Puss @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Robert the Puss improved significantly when running second fresh up at Ballarat and another big effort is expected.

The three-year-old gelding was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner and he has been heavily backed to win on Friday.

After opening at $3, his odds have tumbled into $2.35, which is a sizable move.

Race 4. (19:45) Reed Logistics Maiden (1000m)

#6 – Baekdu @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old filly was heavily backed in both starts last preparation and she didn’t do much wrong.

She was beaten as a $1.60 favourite twice, but both runs came on heavy tracks and she didn’t handle them.

Punters get better odds here and there’s no reason why she can’t start the campaign with a win.

Race 6. (20:45) O’Brien Real Estate BM70 (2520m)

#3 – Spirit of Gold @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Spirit of Gold is a quality type for Peter Moody, who has already won three times this preparation.

The five-year-old mare by Medaglia D’oro won by just under a length last time out and we expect that form to hold up well.

Rising in distance holds no fears and we can see her odds firming to around $2.50 on race day.

Race 7. (21:15) Tab Long May We Play BM64 (1500m)

#9 – Fjord @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters took $1.65 around Fjord last time out and the three-year-old filly didn’t disappoint.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock scored by 5.3 lengths in dominant fashion, which makes the $2.90 available here surprising.

It’s a harder race, but she looks to have more ability than most.
