Rosehill horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:10) Midway BM72 (1500m)

#3 – Reformist @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Reformist did enough fresh up to warrant attention and the five-year-old is good enough to beat this field.

The son of Dissident owns two placings from three starts at Rosehill and he handles wet tracks, so we’re happy with the value available.

Getting $8.50 is a good price and he could firm on race day, so it’s best to take the odds while they’re available.

Race 2. (12:45) Irresistible Pools Darby Munro (1200m)

#4 – Mazu @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Mazu continues to win and there’s no reason to jump off his back in the Darby Munro.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained three-year-old defeated some smart types at Randwick last start and that form translates well at Rosehill.

He has been rock-solid in betting markets and getting the inside draw only helps his chances. He should track the speed and be right there to pounce approaching the home turn.

Race 3. (13:25) Queens’ Cup N E Manion Cup (2400m)

#6 – Luncies @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Luncies comes off a second placing at Randwick and he’s good enough to improve on that position.

The five-year-old son of Iffraaj owns five wins from 15 starts and most of his best form has come on rain-affected tracks.

We would be surprised if he wasn’t fighting out the finish, despite drawing wide. He has time to find cover over 2400m, so punters shouldn’t be worried about the draw.

Race 4. (14:00) Bisley Workwear Epona Stakes (1900m)

#4 – Monegal @ $13 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Monegal was too good for a hot field at Canberra two back and she did enough behind Sacramento earlier this week.

Being on the quick back-up isn’t too much of a concern, and although this isn’t her preferred distance, there is some confidence in markets.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and she could surprise a few.

Race 10. (17:55) Tab Birthday Card Stakes (1200m)

#1 – Steinem @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Steinem is more talented than her record suggests and moving to Sydney could help.

The Maher/Eustace-trained four-year-old owns three wins from eight starts and she looks to have a bright future when she puts it all together.

She has attracted James McDonald into the saddle and that should tell punters all they need to know about her chances.
