Ipswich horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:33) Labour Day Races This Mon Maiden (1666m)

#7 – Swear on a Promise @ $2.35 – Bet @ PlayUp

Swear on a Promise is knocking on the door after back-to-back second placings and she could score an overdue win.

The three-year-old daughter of Swear was 1.8 lengths behind the winner at Doomben last start and she looks ready to exit maidens.

Most of the early money has come her way and it could be justified.

Race 2. (13:08) Follow Ipswichturfclub Maiden (1200m)

#3 – Barbary Royale @ $2.50 – Bet @ PlayUp

Barbary Royale has been hammered in betting markets and the money could be worth following.

The three-year-old filly finished second on debut at Doomben and she has been backed in from an opening quote of $4.60.

It’s a sizable betting move and getting 3kg off her back adds to her appeal.

Race 3. (13:43) The Barn Family Restaurant Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Cruising Bill @ $5 – Bet @ PlayUp

Cruising Bill hit the line impressively to place at Sunshine Coast and that was a tough maiden field.

The son of Jet Spur paid a big price of $31 and he’s much shorter here, but the drop in odds is warranted after that performance.

From barrier two, he should be hard to hold out.

Race 4. (14:18) IEEC C3 Handicap (1350m)

#4 – Think Glory @ $2.90 – Bet @ PlayUp

Think Glory is a classy type that deserves more than two wins from 11 starts, so we’re sticking with her.

The four-year-old daughter of So You Think owns two wins and a placing from three starts at Ipswich, so getting back to her favourite track helps.

Dropping to 53kg makes her one of the bets of the day.

Race 5. (14:53) Ipswich Cup Tickets on Sale BM70 (1700m)

#3 – Fast Talking @ $2.25 – Bet @ PlayUp

Fast Talking has experience on his side and he’s close to getting back to his best form.

The seven-year-old is a five-time winner from 40 starts, including twice at the distance and he has handled wet tracks.

Getting 2kg off his back helps and the early betting support isn’t surprising.

Race 6. (15:28) Ray White Ipswich C6 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Georgie’s Pride @ $4.40 – Bet @ PlayUp

Georgie’s Pride runs her best races fresh up with four starts for two wins and two placings.

The Forster-trained mare has yet to race at Ipswich, but she has been prepared with a trial win at Deagon, which bodes well.

Punters get each-way odds to enjoy and she’s a value bet.

Race 7. (16:03) Sirromet C1 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Arentee @ $1.90 – Bet @ PlayUp

Punters have to take short odds for Arentee, but the last-start winner looks like a good chance of winning again.

The three-year-old gelding scored by 3.5 lengths as a $1.60 chance. Finishing second was Barbary Royale, so the form could stack up.

Drawing barrier 15 is why he’s not at even shorter odds, so take the value available.

Race 8. (16:38) Tab BM65 (1100m)

#18 – Single Memo @ $4 – Bet @ PlayUp

The three-year-old filly won on debut at Eagle Farm before facing tough opposition in two subsequent runs at Sunshine Coast and Doomben.

She didn’t fire last time out but she has been primed with a trial win at Doomben and that is a good sign.

We expect plenty of money to come for her on race day.
