Monday Horse Racing Tips – August 8th, 2022

We have expert betting tips for the cards this Monday at Pakenham and Goulburn.

There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Monday meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.

Tried our top rated bookmakers?

Race 1. (12:35) Sportsbet Bet with Mates Maiden (1000m)

#10 – Kasparov @ $3.10 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Kasparov hasn’t had a public trial but there has been good betting support and that’s a good sign.

The three-year-old son of Russian Revolution opened at $3.30 and has been backed into $3.10, which is a solid move for a debutante.

The inside draw helps and his odds could continue to firm.

Race 3. (13:45) Sportsman’s Lunch Maiden (1600m)

#10 – Rocket Boy @ $11 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Rocket Boy runs at value odds after two moderate trials, but he wasn’t asked for much in the run.

The Hayes-trained son of Pierro is in good hands and punters get excellent value odds for the debutante and he could be hammered on race day.

Take him as an each-way value runner.

Race 5. (14:55) Michael Hurley on Course BM70 (1000m)

#3 – Along the River @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The Ellerton-trained four-year-old resumed with a good fifth at Sandown and the form out of that race has stacked up.

He owns two wins and three placings from eight starts and his best form comes over this distance, so we’re confident of a good run.

Punters get value odds.

Race 6. (15:30) Hosted by Josh Jenkins BM58 (1200m)

#1 – Prince of Mercia @ $3.10 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Prince of Mercia is a classy type on his day and he could have easily won more races than two.

The five-year-old son of Magnus owns two wins and seven placings from 16 starts, so he’s consistent and getting 3kg off his back helps.

The $3.10 is likely to stay steady on race day.

Race 1. (13:00) Doyles Seafood Restaurant C2 (1000m)

#2 – Golden Fighter @ $2.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Golden Fighter has been heavily backed from $3.40 to $2.20 and that’s following an impressive win at Goulburn on debut.

The Matthew Smith-trained gelding won by 1.5 lengths as a $1.95 chance and punters get better odds this time around.

We’re not leaving him out of calculations and his odds could firm.

Race 2. (13:35) Goulburn Mulwaree Council Maiden (1300m)

#5 – Lady Fraulein @ $2.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Lady Fraulein is getting close to breaking through after back-to-back second placings, including her last start at Goulburn.

The four-year-old daughter of Panzar Division was a short margin behind the winner and it’s only a matter of time before she wins.

Money has come for the favourite and jumping from barrier two puts her right in the mix.

Race 4. (14:45) Rec Equine Specialists BM66 (1400m)

#5 – Dubai Centre @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Dubai Centre won two back at Dubbo before winning again at Albury, which is an excellent form guide.

The five-year-old gelding only won by a nose last start but it was a tough performance and he has been backed from an original $6.50 quote.

Take the odds available before they shorten again.

Race 7. (16:40) Hibernian Hotel Maiden (1000m)

#3– First Grange @ $4.20 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

First Grange placed either side of a spell and his effort at Canberra last time out is a step in the right direction.

The three-year-old son of More than Ready was only a length behind the winner last start and we’re not worried about the betting drift.

He should be tough to beat in a competitive affair.
