Doomben horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:08) St Patrick’s Day Festival (1110m)

#3 – Russian Racketeer @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Early betting support has come for Russian Racketeer, who ran a quick time when winning a trial at Gold Coast.

Getting the inside barrier is ideal and punters might want to snap up the $4.40 before he shortens to a firmer quote.

He’s a market watch in the opener.

Race 2. (12:43) Sky Racing BM78 (2200m)

#1 – Stuck with You @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Stuck with You is shooting for three consecutive wins and we’re prepared to take the $5.

The former New Zealand runner scored both wins at Doomben and the most recent was a gutsy effort to win by a nose.

Getting a 2kg claimer helps and we fancy his chances.

Race 3. (13:18) BRC Membership Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Roman Aureus @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters had to wait patiently for Roman Aurerus to get back to his best form, but his win at Doomben was classy.

The five-year-old son of Red Element scored by just under a length and it was his fifth win at Doomben, so he’s a track specialist.

Securing the inside draw is ideal and we expect big things.

Race 4. (13:57) Cascade Handicap (1350m)

#5 – Cool Lad @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Cool Lad gets all favours off the inside draw with a light weight and he’s a runner in excellent form.

The Matthew Smith-trained colt won at Nowra two back in heavy conditions before doubling down and winning Wagga by 2.5 lengths.

There are no superstars in this field and he won’t get a better chance to win in town.

Race 5. (14:37) Girls Day Out 12 March 0MW (1110m)

#7 – Osamu @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Osamu has yet to race at Doomben, but his form in Sydney bodes well for this level of racing.

The Annabel Neasham-trained gelding had no luck at Randwick last start and he gets in favourable at the weights with 54kg.

We expect him to be fighting out the finish.

Race 6. (15:17) XXXX Dry 0MW (1110m)

#10 – Rich Lister @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rich Lister has firmed in betting markets and she could hit the ground running this preparation.

The four-year-old daughter of Rich Enuff finished third at Doomben last start and has since won a trial at Deagon to prepare.

Dropping to 52kg off the inside draw could tip the scales in her favour.

Race 7. (15:57) Tab Venue Mode C3 Plate (1350m)

#1 – Garappolo @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Garappolo has yet to fire in three attempts at Doomben, but there is a sizable engine underneath the bonnet.

The four-year-old son of Per Incanto is better than what he has been showing and getting some weight relief helps.

Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.

Race 8. (16:25) M.M. GC March Catalogue BM85 (1350m)

#11 – Dreamreacher @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dreamreacher had no luck at Gold Coast last start when finding trouble behind Isotope, but that level of racing stacks up well.

The six-year-old owns four wins and nine placings from 15 starts, so he’s a quality son of Snitzel who gets all favours here.

He gets an inside draw with a light weight, hence the betting support coming his way.

Race 9. (17:15) Stradbroke Season on Sale BM78 (1615m)

#5 – The Ritz @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Ritz owns five wins from nine starts, and although he struggles at Doomben, he could turn that around.

He didn’t have all favours in the run behind Roman Aureus last start, but he should get conditions to suit on Saturday.

Each-way odds are available and he’s worth the risk.
