Randwick horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Coolmore Pierro Plate (1100m)

#2 – Metallicity @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Metallicty is a quality colt coming off three consecutive trial wins and he’s a well-related type.

The son of Zoustar won by a nose at Rosehill and having a tough trial should hold him in good stead.

Most of the money has come for the favourite, so it could pay to follow race-day betting moves.

Race 2. (13:00) Tab Highway C3 Handicap (1800m)

#2 – Highlights @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Highlights was too good for them at Tamworth last time out and a repeat of that performance takes him close.

The four-year-old son of Your Song scored by 2.3 lengths and getting 1.5kg off his back makes him harder to beat.

Only barrier 12 is against him, so include.

Race 3. (13:35) Bisley Workwear BM78 (2400m)

#6 – Casino Kid @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It took a good horse to beat Casino Kid last time out and that form is stellar for this race.

The four-year-old gelding ran a half-length behind Crystal Pegasus and he doesn’t rise in weight by that much.

$3.50 is a fair price and we expect money to come for him on Saturday.

Race 4. (14:10) Midway BM72 (1000m)

#2 – Capital Reign @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Capital Reign owns four wins and three placings from seven starts, so he has yet to run a bad race.

The three-year-old son of Capitalist ran second behind Silent Impact last start, which has since finished second last week.

Barrier eight isn’t ideal, but he owns good tactical pace and he should land on the speed and kick strongly.

Race 5. (14:45) George Mullen Farewell BM88 (1600m)

#2 – Yiyi @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Yiyi had his chance to win last start when getting run down by Wairere Falls, but he could turn the tables.

The four-year-old gelding owns five wins and eight placings from 17 starts, including a win at his only start at Randwick.

Race fitness helps and having James McDonald in the saddle is ideal.

Race 6. (15:25) Southern Cross Stakes (1200m)

#12 – Quantico @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Quantico got the better of Lost and Running in a recent trial and John O’Shea was more confident with the favourite.

The five-year-old gelding is a six-time winner from 10 starts and he likes to soak up the early speed before unleashing late.

Carrying 53.5kg is a steal and he’s the one they have to beat.

Race 7. (16:05) Tab Light Fingers Stakes (1200m)

#8 – Espiona @ $1.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Espiona could be the next big thing in racing after destroying a quality field at Flemington last time out.

The Waller-trained daughter of Extreme Choice is fresh up over 1200m, which is worrying, but when stablemate Fangirl, who won over 1600m last start is paying $8.50, it bodes well.

She’s an electric type that should only firm in betting markets.

Race 8. (16:45) The Agency Apollo Stakes (1400m)

#1 – Think It Over @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Think It Over is a classy type, and although Verry Elleegant is in the field, Think It Over should be better prepared fresh up.

The Kerry Parker-trained gelding owns three wins from seven fresh up starts and he’s a six-time winner at Randwick.

It’s a hot field but he’s the one they have to beat.

Race 9. (17:25) Robrick Lodge Triscay Stakes (1200m)

#7 – It’s Me @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It’s Me is unbeaten after four starts and the five-year-old hasn’t been seen since October 2020.

The injury-enforced break came at the wrong time, but the daughter of Shamus Award is classy and there is enough betting support to instill some confidence.

54kg on her back helps, so watch betting moves.

Race 10. (18:00) Sharp Extensive It BM88 (1300m)

#9 – She’s All Class @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

She’s All Class was disappointing in the spring but the three-year-old filly has too much talent to ignore.

She looked excellent when breaking her maiden status and facing this level of opposition could make the difference.

McDonald has opted to ride and that’s a good sign.
