Randwick horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:25) Tab Highway Handicap C2 (1000m)

#5 – Salire @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Salire owns two wins from three starts, including an easy 3.5-length victory at Muswellbrook last time out.

The four-year-old son of Dream Ahead gets a valuable 2kg off his back and we’re not worried about the drifting odds.

He opened at $4.40, but punters now get odds worth taking.

Race 2. (13:00) Midway BM72 (1100m)

#1 – Delexo @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

There was nothing wrong with Delexo’s performance fresh up and he’ll improve with the fitness under his belt.

The son of Exosphere finished third behind Invincible Kiss and the four-time winner is easily good enough to beat this field.

Barrier six is ideal and he should be finishing strongly.

Race 3. (13:35) Furphy Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m)

#1 – Coolangatta @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Golden Slipper contenders take centre stage with Coolangatta and Xtravagant Star, but we’re in the camp of the favourite.

She has looked above average in winning all three starts, including the Magic Millions at Gold Coast over Russian Conquest.

We don’t think the wet conditions will hurt her chances and punters should be happy with anything above $2, so put her on top.

Race 4. (14:10) Elite Sand & Soil Skyline Stakes (1200m)

#9 – Man in the Mirror @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Man in the Mirror scored an impressive win on debut over Paris Dior, who subsequently ran some good races.

The Annabel Neasham-trained colt cost $1.8 million and he has made a good start to getting that back, so take the each-way odds available.

His recent trial win was good, so we’re confident.

Race 5. (14:45) Cellarbrations Liverpool Cup (1300m)

#9 – Quantico @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Quantico hasn’t run well on wet tracks, but we’re sticking with the current favourite on ability alone.

The John O’Shea-trained gelding owns six wins from 10 starts and carrying 54kg could be the difference in this race.

It could pay to watch for late betting moves based on the conditions.

Race 6. (15:25) Guy Walter Proven Thoroughbred Stakes (1400m)

#11 – Promise of Success @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Promise of Success finished second behind Snapdancer last time out and there’s nothing wrong with that form.

The six-year-old mare has finished in the first two at her last five starts and she loves racing at Randwick in these conditions.

After opening at $8.50, most of the money has come for the talented mare.

Race 9. (17:25) Petaluma Wines BM88 (2000m)

#6 – Arctic Thunder @ $9 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Arctic Thunder is a noted wet track performer and we like her chances of running well at juicy odds.

The Gary Portelli-trained mare owns four wins in the wet and she comes off a win at Randwick, which bodes well.

It’s a hot field, but getting $9 for a runner of her class is well worth snapping up.

Race 10. (18:00) Garvan Institute Sprint BM88 (1200m)

#5 – Maotai @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Maotai showed his potential when beating a nice field at Randwick and the form has stacked up.

He put a length on Silent Impact, who has since run well at higher levels, so there is no reason why he can’t handle this field.

55kg on his back is a steal and the $2.40 could firm on race day.
