Randwick horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (14:20) Vinery Maiden Plate (1100m)

#2 – Devil’s Throat @ $1.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters have to take short odds for Devil’s Throat, but the Snowden-trained gelding should be breaking through.

The three-year-old son of Snitzel finished second at Gold Coast behind Warmth in the Magic Millions Maiden, so that form stacks up well.

Barrier four is ideal and he could get the day started off on the right note.

Race 2. (14:55) Tab Maiden (1100m)

#11 – Troach @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The two-year-old filly didn’t show much on debut at Randwick, but her trial form has been excellent since.

She comes off a trial win at Rosehill when beating Ojai, so the field was talented and she gets all favours off the inside draw.

Tim Clark is an excellent judge of pace and we’re confident in his chances to win at value each-way odds.

Race 3. (15:30) Ranvet Maiden Handicap (1400m)

#5 – Sanstoc @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Money has come for the trials performer who got the better of them at Randwick last month.

The Mark Newnham-trained three-year-old is bred to enjoy running over this distance and the early signs are positive.

She opened at $4.20 before firming to $4, and with the 1.5kg claim dropping her weight to 54kg, she’s the one to beat.

Race 4. (16:05) China Horse Club BM72 (1550m)

#4 – Bedford Square @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bedford Square is getting close to posting another win after three consecutive second placings.

The four-year-old daughter of Tavistock owns only one win from 13 starts, but with nine placings on her record, she always goes close.

Dropping to 53.5kg could tip the scales in her favour and punters get excellent each-way odds, so she’s a runner worth following.

Race 5. (16:40) Stud/Stable Staff Awards BM72 (1800m)

#2 – Reggiewood @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Reggiewood is a former Hong Kong runner who looked good when running third at Warwick Farm fresh up.

The five-year-old son of Redwood showed good pace from the back of the field and anything similar should take him close.

Rising in distance is ideal and the money has come for him. He opened at $3.70 and has firmed since, so punters should follow him with confidence.

Race 6. (17:15) Harry Angel Yearlings BM72 (1400m)

#1 – Easy Campese @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

John Sargent lines up the four-year-old who has yet to finish worse than second in two attempts at Randwick.

The son of Sidestep is a four-time winner and he has faced some difficult fields in the past, so he should find this any harder.

Getting a 3kg claimer to ride is ideal and we would be surprised if he wasn’t fighting out the finish.

Race 7. (17:50) Davali BM72 (1000m)

#6 – Eyewitness @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Eyewitness finished third behind Crosscheck and Easy Campese last start, so we’re liking that form, especially if Easy Campese wins.

The four-year-old mare owns four wins from eight starts and it’s tough to find negatives about that form line.

After opening at $5.50, most of the money has come for the Kristen Buchanan-trained runner, so follow the money trail.
