Rosehill horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:25) Tab Highway C3 Plate (1500m)
#10 – Lord Desanimaux @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The six-year-old gelding has been in fine form this season with a win and three consecutive second placings.
He has run his last two second placings at Rosehill behind So Say You and Banju, so the form should stack up well at this level.
Punters should snap up the each-way odds available.
Race 2. (13:00) Fujitsu General Canonbury Stakes (1100m)
#4 – Great Barrier Reef @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Great Barrier Reef has been heavily backed and the expensive $1.4 million purchase could make a winning debut.
The son of I Am Invincible won a trial at Canterbury before running up behind the winners at Rosehill, so it was a tidy performance.
After opening at $3 earlier in the week, he has been smashed in markets.
Race 3. (13:35) Widden Stakes (1100m)
#1 – Ebhaar @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ebhaar is a two-year-old filly who dug deep to score on debut and we love a filly that does that.
The daughter of I Am Invincible scored by just under a length at Caulfield and she has subsequently won a trial at Warwick Farm.
Barrier five is ideal and we’re backing her again.
Race 4. (14:10) Chandon BM72 (1500m)
#7 – Kanazawa – Bet @ Sportsbet
James Cummings lines up the three-year-old gelding who won on debut at Warwick Farm and looks to have ability.
He wasn’t far behind I Am Lethal and Titanium Power in two subsequent runs, but the well-bred son of Lonhro had the fastest last 600m last start.
Carrying 54kg is ideal and we fancy his chances.
Race 5. (14:45) Midway BM72 (1300m)
#9 – Astero @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Astero comes off two tidy efforts at Warwick Farm and Rosehill and we’re prepared to take the $7.
The Matthew Smith-trained son of Zoustar finished off nicely last time out and he only needs luck from barrier 17.
James McDonald will likely head back and rely on some luck in the straight, but he’s worth backing.
Race 6. (15:20) Schweppes BM78 (2000m)
#2 – Crystal Pegasus – Bet @ Sportsbet
James McDonald takes the ride on Crystal Pegasus, who comes off a second placing at Rosehill behind Monegal.
The five-year-old son of Australia is a three-time winner at the distance, and although yet to win on the track, he has gone close twice.
We wouldn’t be leaving him out of our selections.
Race 7. (16:00) XXXX Expressway Stakes (1200m)
#6 – Anamoe @ $1.65 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Anamoe is the class runner of the field and we have little doubt that he should be making a winning return.
The Cummings-trained winner of over $4 million is a superstar and he showed that when running second in the Cox Plate.
He was unlucky not to win, and although 1200m is short of his best, he’s a two-time winner over the distance and this field has nothing on him.
Race 8. (16:40) Ned Whisky BM88 (1500m)
#4 – Yiyi – Bet @ Sportsbet
Yiyi is a lovely type who owns five wins and seven placings from 16 starts, so punters love him.
The Waller-trained four-year-old has yet to finish worse than second at Rosehill and getting the inside draw is a bonus.
It’s another quality ride for McDonald, who could have a big day.
Race 9. (17:20) Rosehill Bowling Club BM88 (1200m)
#6 – Rule of Law – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rule of Law is shooting for four consecutive wins after scoring some impressive wins at Warwick Farm and Rosehill.
The four-year-old son of Snitzel showed toughness when winning last start and that’s a sign of a horse going places.
McDonald rides and he’s well worth following off the inside draw.
Race 10. (18:00) Precise Fire BM78 (1400m)
#8 – Juventus – Bet @ Sportsbet
Juventus is a sizable seven-year-old who can bully his way to the front. He is a six-time winner and three of those have come over 1400m.
He is often underrated in betting markets, so punters could get value odds for the son of Hard Spun on Saturday.
Dropping to 54.5kg could turn the tables in his favour.
