Rosehill horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:20) Midway BM72 (1200m)

#6 – Epic Dan @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters get value odds for Epic Dan, who wasn’t far away last time out and that form should stack up at this level.

The Greg Hickman-trained nine-year-old isn’t getting any younger, but with 14 wins under his belt, he’s worth considering at the price.

2kg comes off his back and we’re confident of an improved run.

Race 2. (12:55) Cellarbrations Magic Night Stakes (1200m)

#2 – She’s Extreme @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

She’s Extreme is drifting in betting markets but running second behind Fireburn is a good form guide.

The two-year-old filly by Extreme Choice also looked good when running fourth on debut, so despite never having won a race, she must be considered.

A betting push on race day wouldn’t surprise so keep her safe.

Race 3. (13:30) Bowermans Pago Pago Stakes (1200m)

#3 – Magic @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Magic was only a half-length behind Best of Bordeaux on debut and that form is stellar for this field.

The two-year-old colt cost $2.5 million, so there are big expectations and he should only get better with time and more distance.

Barrier three is ideal and he’s a standout runner in this field, so punters should follow the early money and launch into him.

Race 4. (14:05) Hyland Race Colours Ajax Stakes (1500m)

#7 – Wairere Falls @ $14 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wairere Falls’ best chance is to settle off the pace and hope they go quickly up front, which could materialise.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding has a nice turn-of-foot when the race pans out nicely and he closed off nicely behind Silent Agenda last start.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and the $14 is well worth taking.

Race 5. (14:40) Tatt’s Group Maurice McCarten (1100m)

#2 – Rule of Law @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rule of Law is drifting in the betting but we can’t see any reason to jump off his back after five wins on the bounce.

The four-year-old gelding is unbeaten in three starts at Rosehill and the seven-time winner is well-placed here.

He gets in with only 55kg on his back and we’re not jumping off until he suggests otherwise.

Race 6. (15:20) Chandon Phar Lap Stakes (1500m)

#11 – Fangirl @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fangirl didn’t have all favours when running fifth behind Hinged last start but she lost no admirers with the performance.

The Waller-trained three-year-old owns four wins from seven starts and she has a bright future, so we’re not surprised by the odds available.

Carrying 54.5kg is ideal and she won’t be worried about the wet conditions.

Race 7. (16:00) Furphy Sky High Stakes (2000m)

#4 – Sky Lab @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sky Lab returned to form with a victory at Rosehill last start and he is a smart type on his day.

The Paul Perry-trained four-year-old has won almost $500,000 in stakes and he runs his best races at Rosehill, so punters should be confident.

We’re happy with the $5 available and those odds should firm.

Race 9. (17:20) Vale Alan Brown BM88 (1350m)

#7 – Katalin @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It’s an open field but Katalin has upside and she’s better than what she showed at Doomben last start.

The five-year-old mare struggled in the wet conditions, and although a heavy track is expected, she should be better for the experience.

The betting support is there, so that’s a good sign.

Race 10. (17:55) Cerrone BM78 (1900m)

#14 – Benaud @ $9 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Benaud is getting close to a win after finishing second at Canterbury last start and he handles the wet tracks.

The John O’Shea-trained gelding chased gamely in defeat and there are no superstars in this field, so he could take advantage.

Carrying 52.5kg gives him every chance in the run.
