Sha Tin horse racing tips

Race 1. (15:30) Yue Yee C5 Handicap (1200m)

#10 – Masterwork – Bet @ Sportsbet

Masterwork owns only one placing from nine starts, but it came two starts back at Sha Tin and that should be a good form guide.

The Tsui-trained five-year-old followed it up with a solid fifth last start and anything close to that effort should be good enough.

Barrier 12 is our only worry but put him on top.

Race 2. (16:00) Prosperity C4 Handicap (1400m)

#1 – Happy Daily – Bet @ Sportsbet

Searching for three consecutive wins is Happy Daily, who scored by 1.5 lengths at Sha Tin last time out.

The four-year-old son of Pins owns two wins and two placings from eight starts, so he has been around the mark so far.

Having Karis Teetan riding helps, so include in selections.

Race 3. (16:30) Good Fortune C3 Handicap (1000m)

#11 – Whizz Kid – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Tony Cruz-trained three-year-old scored by just under a length at Sha Tin last start and he could go back-to-back.

He has finished in the first two in four of his six starts, so he’s consistent and dropping to 53kg makes him tough to beat.

Joao Moreira rides and he has been in excellent form.

Race 4. (17:00) The Chinese New Year Cup (1400m)

#1 – Will Power – Bet @ Sportsbet

Will Power is a professional winner of seven from 18 starts, so he’s always worth having on your ticket.

The Douglas Whyte-trained six-year-old didn’t fire fresh up but he quickly bounced back to score by 1.5 lengths last time out.

Punters should get value odds on race day.

Race 5. (17:35) Prosperity C4 Handicap (1400m)

#9 – Solar Partner – Bet @ Sportsbet

Solar Partner has form lines around the likes of Country Boy and Happy Daily, so the form checks out at this level.

He will need to beat Country Boy here, but the four-year-old son of Zoustar is nearing his breakthrough win.

It’s another good ride for Moreira, so keep him safe.

Race 6. (18:05) Red Packet C4 Handicap (2000m)

#12 – Super Hong Kong – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Tony Millard-trained gelding scored his maiden win at Happy Valley two back and he wasn’t far away last time out.

He doesn’t always run well, but this race is there for the taking and carrying 52.5kg with Teetan in the saddle helps.

Barrier three is ideal and punters should get each-way odds.

Race 7. (18:35) Kung Hei C3 Handicap (1400m)

#5 – Horsesain Bolt – Bet @ Sportsbet

Horsesain Bolt has yet to win at Sha Tin from 14 attempts, but he has been close with eight minor placings.

The Whyte-trained runner also owns nine placings over this distance, and despite being only a two-time winner, he has upside.

Getting barrier three is ideal and he could run well at each-way odds.

Race 8. (19:05) Kut Cheong C4 Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Galaxy Witness – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking to remain unbeaten is Galaxy Witness, who scored by just under a length on debut at Sha Tin.

The impressive son of Star Witness had good backing on debut and it’s good to see Joao Moreira sticking with him.

Punters shouldn’t be expecting big odds.

Race 9. (19:40) Kung Hei C3 Handicap (1400m)

#12 – Running Glory – Bet @ Sportsbet

Running Glory is another good ride for Moreira, who partnered the four-year-old when winning at Sha Tin last start.

The son of Kermadec broke maidens emphatically by 3.3 lengths and that’s a good sign for his future, which could have many more wins in store.

Carrying 52.5kg is a steal, so put him on top.

Race 10. (20:15) Great Profits C3 Handicap (1200m)

#5 – Gallant Express – Bet @ Sportsbet

Gallant Express comes off three consecutive second placings and the son of I Am Invincible deserves a win.

The four-year-old won on debut by 1.8 lengths but hasn’t been able to win since. However, he hasn’t finished further back than 2.1 lengths, so he’s a nice type.

Barrier five with a light weight makes him tough to hold out.

Race 11. (20:50) Fat Choi C2 Handicap (1800m)

#4 – Senor Toba – Bet @ Sportsbet

The former Australian made an impression in Hong Kong when scoring last start and his best form is excellent.

He finished second in the Group 1 Queensland Derby and he got up to his favourite distance last time out. Dropping from 2000m to 1800m won’t worry him and punters should be confident.

Look for a market push on race night.
