Thursday Horse Racing Tips – April 21st, 2022

We have expert betting tips for the cards this Thursday at Newcastle and Pakenham.

There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Thursday meetings and we have our best bets across the cards.

All odds are with Ladbrokes. You can join Ladbrokes by clicking HERE.

Race 1. (12:40) Horsepower Maiden Handicap (900m)

#2 – Inequality @ $2.60 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The two-year-old finished second at Newcastle on debut before running well at Eagle Farm in open-class company.

He is a son of Capitalist who looks to have good potential at this level and getting barrier three should see him land on the pace.

Punters get value odds at $2.60 and he shouldn’t take long to win.

Race 3. (13:50) Oas Technology Maiden (1300m)

#5 – Podium @ $1.95 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Podium owns three placings from three starts and his most recent effort came at Rosehill.

The three-year-old son of Medaglia D’oro has since placed in a trial at Rosehill, which came on a heavy surface.

He should appreciate the firmer conditions and we’re not surprised to see his odds firm to $1.95 after opening at $2.05.

Race 6. (15:40) Charlestown Square BM64 (1850m)

#4 – Outburst @ $5 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Outburst scored a narrow win at Scone last time out and he’s good enough to kick on with the job.

The Paul Messara-trained son of Real Impact came from off the pace to score, so he showed a nice turn-of-foot.

Rising in distance shouldn’t be an issue and punters get each-way odds to enjoy.

Race 7. (16:15) Avid PM Conditional BM68 (1200m)

#6 – Optimo @ $3.30 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Optimo didn’t do much wrong during his first preparation, which included a third placing at Randwick last time out.

The four-year-old son of Exosphere owns two wins and two placings from six starts, so the quality is there and he comes off a trial win at Port Macquarie.

It’s good to see the betting support come and the change in stable could also help.

Race 2. (18:15) Stables Plus Maiden Plate (1400m)

#5 – Chandon Burj @ $2.15 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Chandon Burj is knocking on the door of a win after two placings and it shouldn’t take her long to win.

The three-year-old comes off a second placing at Pakenham and getting the inside draw should give her every chance to win.

We expect her odds to firm throughout the day.

Race 4. (19:15) Red Gem Packers & Growers Maiden (1600m)

#9 – Friday at Five @ $3.60 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Friday at Five didn’t show much on debut but quickly found form when placing in subsequent runs at Ballarat and Mornington.

The three-year-old filly by Zoustar was only a nose behind the winner at Mornington, so we like her chances of going one better.

Money has come for her and she’s worth following.

Race 5. (19:45) S Jordan Takes Sportsbet BM64 (1600m)

#1 – Worsfold @ $2.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Nick Smart lines up the five-year-old gelding who is a speedy type and looks ready to win.

The son of Shamus Award is a three-time winner from nine starts, including two at the distance, and getting a 1.5kg claim helps.

After opening at $4, his odds have come tumbling and we wouldn’t be leaving him off our tickets against this level of opposition.

Race 7. (20:45) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM64 (1200m)

#8 – Starlea @ $4.50 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Starlea is always around the mark after running third at Sandown and we like her chances of winning.

The three-year-old daughter of Star Witness owns a win and six placings from 10 starts, so she’s consistent and good enough to beat this field.

Drawing barrier four is ideal and punters should enjoy the each-way odds available.
