Race 1. (17:45) Iron Jack Australian Lager Maiden (1600m)
#4 – Mon Cheval @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mon Cheval finished second on debut at Warrnambool before running solidly at Pakenham, so he looks well-placed.
The three-year-old son of Vadamos might have needed time to hit peak fitness and the rise in distance could work the trick.
Punters get odds worth taking.
Race 3. (18:45) GG Engineering Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Set the Rails @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old colt was close behind some smart types at Pakenham last start and that form bodes well.
He was under a length from the winner at Caulfield prior to that and having experience in the city is ideal for racing at Pakenham.
Drawing barrier five is ideal and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
Race 5. (19:45) Carl Finazza on Sportsbet Maiden (1400m)
#12 – Versilia @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Versilia is getting close to a win after running second at Sale and it’s only a matter of time before she breaks through.
The four-year-old daughter of Snitzel hit the line nicely last start and she’s likely to settle back from the wide draw and finish strongly again.
Punters will have to take short odds, but they’re worth including in multi bets.
Race 7. (20:45) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM58 (1600m)
#2 – Goondiwindi @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Goondiwindi is a noted fresh up performer with two starts for a win and a placing.
The well-bred four-year-old has finished in the money in four of his five starts, so he’s consistent and good enough to put this field away.
Carrying 63.5kg makes it harder, but class should take him close.
Race 1. (13:30) Goulburn Roofing BM58 (1000m)
#3 – Harley Street @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old gelding comes off a win at Sapphire Coast and he showed excellent fight to the line.
He is a well-bred son of Exceed and Excel who has yet to finish worse than second in three starts over the distance, which bodes well.
Money is coming for him and that’s not surprising, so take the even money.
Race 2. (14:10) Pure Image Signs & Designs Maiden (1000m)
#5 – I Am Brazen @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
I Am Brazen comes off two average runs at Gosford and Randwick, but this is a much easier target.
The three-year-old filly has been primed with two trial efforts, including a second placing at Randwick behind the talented Laurelin.
Punters should expect a better effort.
Race 4. (15:20) Heat of Rising Star C1 (1200m)
#5 – Devils Triangle @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Matthew Dale-trained mare has yet to miss a win or placing from four starts, so she’s a consistent type.
She scored at Wagga on a heavy track on debut before rattling off three placings, including one at Goulburn last start.
Dropping in weight helps and we like her chances.
Race 6. (16:30) Goulburn Produce Maiden (1300m)
#15 – We’ve Got Tonight @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We’ve Got Tonight comes off a trial win at Randwick and facing easier opposition should be right up her alley.
The three-year-old daughter of Ocean Park finished fourth on this track last start, but it was better than your average Goulburn maiden.
We expect her to find a good spot in the running and finish over the top of them.
