Ballarat

Race 2. (14:00) Pipe Pro Directional Drill Maiden (1200m)

#8 – Red Rapid @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Red Rapid finished sixth on debut at Moonee Valley and that form stacks up nicely for midweek racing.

The two-year-old daughter of Merchant Navy settled back and finished strongly over 1000m, so the rise in distance is ideal.

We’re expecting plenty of money to come on race day.

Race 4. (15:00) Porter Plant Maiden (1400m)

#9 – Tauty @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The big bets have come for Tauty and it’s not surprising. The Greg Eurell-trained filly comes off back-to-back placings and she looks ready to break through.

She is a daughter of Cluster who was only a nose behind the winner at Moe and this race is there for the taking.

We expect her to settle on the pace and give a mighty kick at the top of the straight.

Race 7. (16:30) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM64 (1200m)

#5 – Wild Express @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking to cap off consistent form is Wild Express, who has placings at Moe and Cranbourne this preparation.

The five-year-old son of Shamexpress has figured in the money in five of his eight starts, including three placings over the distance.

Barrier three is ideal and punters should be confident.

Race 8. (17:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM64 (2000m)

#1 – French Moon @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

French Moon got back to his best form at Donald last start and he’s a tough type on his day.

The four-year-old son of Puissance de Lune is a two-time winner who likes to sit on the speed, which is an asset over this distance.

The statistics over 2000m read well and we’re liking the odds available.

Hawkesbury

Race 1. (13:50) HRC Members’ Raceday Maiden (1100m)

#1 – Naples @ $2.25 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Naples comes off three consecutive second placings and it’s about time punters got the cash.

The James Cummings-trained filly was only a half-length behind Roots last start at Goulburn and that form was franked.

She likes the track with two placings from two starts, so we’re keeping the faith and sticking with her.

Race 3. (15:05) XXXX Gold C1 Handicap (1100m)

#8 – Shades of Rose @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The money hasn’t come for Shades of Rose, but she was an impressive debut winner and that form should hold.

She scored by 1.3 lengths at Bathurst as a $2.35 chance, so drifting from an opening quote of $3.90 is surprising.

Dropping to 53.5kg is ideal and we’re happy to take the price.

Race 5. (16:15) Blakes Marine Maiden (1500m)

#12 – Scat’s Surfer Girl @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Scat’s Surfer Girl was disappointing at Warwick Farm last start but we’re expecting a much better effort.

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old has shown promise throughout her career and she was heavily backed to win last start.

Getting the inside draw with added experience could turn the tide in her favour.

Race 7. (17:30) HRC Motel BM64 (1300m)

#6 – Read My Future @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Read My Future hasn’t raced since May of last year, but the four-year-old made a big impression.

He won by five lengths before being moved to the Annabel Neasham stables. His trial form hasn’t been good, but he hasn’t been asked for much.

Getting a 3kg claimer is ideal and it could pay to watch betting moves.
