Race 1. (13:15) Chinese New Year Maiden (1006m)
#5 – Preach @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Team Edmonds lines up the three-year-old colt who comes off an impressive trial win at Gold Coast.
The son of Flying Artie scored by 2.5 lengths in a dominant display and it bodes well for a promising debut on Tuesday.
After opening at $3.20 his odds have drifted, but he’s the top pick.
Race 3. (14:25) Singapore Turf Club Maiden (1410m)
#1 – Allora Enzo @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Allora Enzo is looking to cap off consistent form after placing in five of his first six career starts.
The four-year-old son of Proisir comes off a second placing at Sunshine Coast and that form bodes well for midweek racing at Grafton.
He deserves a win and we’re backing him in.
Race 5. (15:40) Macau Jockey Club Maiden (1710m)
#6 – Royal Sky @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Royal Sky isn’t as favoured with bookmakers as stablemate Daedalus, but we like his chances at better odds.
The four-year-old owns four placings from 10 starts and he has looked good placing at his last two starts at Ballina.
He opened at $6.50 and that price was taken, so there is confidence in betting markets.
Race 8. (17:35) Kung Hei Fat Choy C1 Handicap (1181m)
#1 – Martini Special @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Money has come for Martini Special and with good reason. The four-year-old mare is a former Victorian who raced at Flemington just three starts back.
Her most recent effort was a fifth at Pakenham behind a subsequent winner, so the daughter of Super One should be tough to beat.
She gets the inside draw with an apprentice claimer riding.
Race 1. (13:30) Meeniyan Tourism & Traders Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Gleaming Legend @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Gleaming Legend has attracted big bets after opening at $11 and that’s a good sign.
The John Sadler-trained three-year-old hasn’t had any public trials, so most of the money will be stable money.
It could pay to watch market moves on race day.
Race 4. (15:00) Leongatha Rural Supplies Maiden (2100m)
#8 – Tobytoff @ $1.75 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tobytoff runs at very short odds, but the Keys-trained four-year-old should be going close.
The son of Toorak Toff owns eight placings from 13 starts and he doesn’t get a better chance to break maidens.
He is twice-placed at Stony Creek and the odds are worth including in horse racing multis.
Race 5. (15:30) Fish Creek Hotel BM58 (2100m)
#1 – Runaway Train @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Runaway Train looks close to scoring an overdue win after finishing second last start at Yarra Glen.
The Clayton Douglas-trained mare was a short margin behind the winner and this race is there for the taking.
She carries a big weight but having Jamie Kah in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 7. (16:30) Meeniyan Hotel BM58 (1100m)
#2 – Night of Delight @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Coming off an impressive win at Yarra Glen is Night of Delight, who is a good chance to win again.
The four-year-old daughter of Night of Thunder won easily by 2.8 lengths, so it suggests he has many more wins in store.
Her odds have drifted slightly after opening at $2.50, but we expect solid betting support on race day.
