Bendigo

Race 1. (13:30) National Hotel Maiden (1100m)

#6 – Shalaman @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Shalaman looked good at the jumpouts and the son of Shalaa could make a winning debut.

Trained by Matt Laurie, the two-year-old colt is a well-bred runner who has attracted plenty of attention in betting markets.

He opened at $3, so follow the money trail.

Race 2. (14:00) Ross Caldwell Plumbing Maiden (1000m)

#7 – Extreme Emotion @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Extreme Edition looked good when placing in consecutive runs last preparation and she could improve enough to win.

The three-year-old daughter of Extreme Choice was only a short margin behind Luna Cat at Bendigo and that form stacks up well at this level.

Barrier nine could make it tricky but put her on top.

Race 5. (15:30) Carlton Draught BM64 (1600m)

#1 – Point Nepean @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Point Nepean ran over 2400m in his Australian debut, but dropping to 1600m shouldn’t worry him fresh up.

The former Irish son of Camelot has bigger races in mind later this year and there isn’t much depth to this field.

Punters get value odds and we’re expecting them to shorten on race day.

Race 7. (16:30) Apiam Animal Health BM64 (1000m)

#3 – McKeever @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking to go back-to-back is McKeever, who won narrowly at Ballarat last time out.

The four-year-old son of Deep Field also runs well at this distance with a win and a placing from three starts, so the stats read well.

Most of the early betting support has come for the favourite and we’re putting him on top.

Kembla Grange

Race 1. (13:15) Bulgo Beach Maiden (1400m)

#5 – Bobby is King @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bobby is King hasn’t done much wrong in two career starts, including a fifth at Warwick Farm last time out.

The three-year-old gelding by Bobby’s Kitten handled the rain-affected track well when running 3.2 lengths behind Arbitration, so it’s a good form guide.

He has been backed to win and the money is worth following.

Race 3. (14:25) Noonys Gulf C1 Handicap (1400m)

#4 – Kokoro @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old gelding by Real Impact didn’t full let down at Newcastle last start but he’s better for the run.

He looked much better when winning at Goulburn by three lengths to break maidens, so punters should keep that run in mind.

Drawing barrier 13 isn’t the worst thing in these conditions, so put him on top.

Race 5. (15:40) Sharkey’s Beach BM64 (1000m)

#1 – He’s Super Lucky @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Steady money has come for He’s Super Lucky, who owns four wins and three placings from 16 starts.

The six-year-old son of Super Easy is a two-time winner at Kembla Grange, so he does his best racing here and the 1.5kg claim helps.

He doesn’t always prefer wet tracks, but we’re confident he can turn that around.

Race 6. (16:20) Brickyard Point BM68 (1300m)

#2 – Turning @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Turning made easy work of it at Newcastle last start and we fancy his chances of kicking on with it.

The Kim Waugh-trained gelding is already a three-time winner from six starts and he loves wet tracks, so the conditions are ideal.

His odds have drifted throughout the week, but there should be solid market confidence on race day.
