Race 1. (13:30) Whitford Liquid Waste Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Cannonball @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cannonball comes off some excellent runs during his first preparation and we thought he would be shorter in betting markets.
The two-year-old colt ran a length behind Sejardan last start, which is Golden Slipper form and it followed a handy fifth on debut at Flemington.
He should be too good for this level of opposition.
Race 3. (14:30) Sam Miranda Maiden (1400m)
#2 – Elskling @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Elskling went down by only a nose on debut at Swan Hill before being immediately spelled, which is always a good sign.
The daughter of Husson looked to have some quality about her and she gets all favours from barrier four on Tuesday.
Money has come for and her odds will likely continue to firm.
Race 6. (16:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM64 (2000m)
#2 – Dodgy One @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dodgy One capped off consecutive placings with a win at Donald, and although beaten last start, he could get back to his best.
The Maher/Eustace-trained son of Reliable Man drops in distance to 2000m and he faces easier opposition, so we’re expecting a bounce back performance.
Barrier 14 won’t be an issue over this distance.
Race 8. (17:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM64 (1000m)
#1 – Direct @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Direct was beaten at odds of $1.35 last start, but the Lloyd Kennewell-trained colt should hit back at much better odds.
The three-year-old was only a length behind the winner, but he’s classy at best with a win and six placings from nine starts.
He has a big weight to carry but the inside draw is ideal.
Race 2. (13:50) Pacific West Foods C1 Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Your Too Good @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Your Too Good kicked off her campaign with a second placing at Gosford and she’s better than what she showed last start.
The Mark Newnham-trained daughter of Your Song opened at $3.30 and has firmed considerably, so that is a good sign.
Barrier seven is tricky but we’re expecting a bounce back performance.
Race 4. (15:05) A&T Trading Tip Top C1 Handicap (1400m)
#7 – Short Shorts @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Short Shorts wasn’t far behind the winner at Kembla Grange last start and it’s good form for this level of racing.
The three-year-old was a winner on debut at Newcastle by 1.8 lengths before running second behind Sweet Ruby at Hawkesbury.
Having experience on the track helps and punters should take the $3 available.
Race 6. (16:20) Simplot Food Service BM64 (2000m)
#4 – Akahata @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Bjorn Baker stable is firing and Akahata should be well-supported on race day.
He comes off a win at Mudgee where he was too good, scoring by 1.8 lengths and we like his chances of winning again.
The son of Pins owns two wins and three placings from 12 starts, so he’s never too far away from the prize.
Race 7. (16:55) Fishboy Food Service Maiden (1800m)
#9 – Chenin @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chenin was no match for subsequent winner Castlereagh Kid last start, but she’ll find this easier.
The three-year-old owns two second placings from two starts and it won’t take her long to break through for her maiden success.
Punters get value odds for the favourite and she’s worth taking.
